? Centenary College Theater Department's Nextstage Repertory presents Into the Woods April 28 through May 8 in the Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Into the Woods was created by Stephen Sondheim and writer James Lapine and it originally premiered in 1987 on Broadway. The musical is set in an alternate world of four of The Grimm's fairy tales. Into the Woods tells the tale of a childless baker and his wife who are desperate to have a baby. They attempt to lift the curse that has been placed on the Baker's side of the family by a witch because his father stole magic beans. Along the way they encounter Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk. Each one of the characters have a desperate desire that they will do anything to achieve, but when wishes don't go the way they thought they would, the characters realize something that had never occurred to them before; that maybe wishes aren't always what they appear to be.
