Bristol Riverside Celebrates American Folk Music with Lonesome Traveler: The Concert

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents Lonesome Traveler: The Concert on April 11-15.  This stirring concert version of the acclaimed Off-Broadway musical showcases the enduring power and popularity of American folk music in the last century.  The show celebrates the music of great folk artists including Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Peter Seeger and the Weavers, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Don McClean, James Taylor, and Van Morrison, with a special tribute to Leonard Cohen.  Complete with period costumes and multimedia projections, this unforgettable concert event features romantic duets, patriotic songs, church hymns, union anthems, and songs of protest, moving from the 1920s to the 1960s and beyond, from the front porches of Appalachia to the nightclubs of San Francisco and New York.

Legendary singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy award winner, James Taylor & His All-Star Band, has teamed up with Bonnie Raitt (and her band) to announce an extra UK show in Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena on July 17th. Tickets go on sale: Friday March 9th @ 9.00am. They will now be playing four special UK shows in July 2018 – in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Cardiff.

Violinist Janine Jansen concludes herPerspectives series at Carnegie Hall this season joining Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguinand The Philadelphia Orchestra on Tuesday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. for the New York premiere of Dutch composer Michel Van der Aa's Violin Concerto. The piece, written especially for Ms. Jansen, is described by her as “full of energy and lyricism,” and reflects Ms. Jansen's long-time artistic partnership with the composer. Mr. Van der Aa has said that Ms. Jansen's personality served as his inspiration for the work. “If Janine had played the flute, I would have written a flute concerto,” he said.

The 2017-2018 National Tour of the Tony Award winner for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, produced by NETworks Presentations, announced today full casting for the premiere Atlanta engagement at the Fox Theatre. James Taylor Odom, a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, will play the role of the eight D'Ysquith heirs and Blake Price will portray the role of Monty Navarro.

THE EAGLES Add Five More Concerts to 2018 AN EVENING WITH THE EAGLES Tour

The Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh & Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey - have added five more “An Evening with the Eagles” concerts to the 2018 tour. New shows have been set for Tuesday, October 9, at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Friday, October 12, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.  Due to the success of the October 2017 concert in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena, the March 14, concert at the United Center in Chicago, and the two Forum concerts in Inglewood, California, a third show at the “Fabulous” Forum has been set for Saturday, September 15, and second (and final) shows have been set for Sunday, October 14, at Little Caesars Arena and Monday, October 15, at the United Center.
