Mutineer Theatre Company Presents THE WOODPECKER, 3/5-4/3

Mutineer Theatre Company is thrilled to present a world premiere play, THE WOODPECKER, written by Samuel Brett Williams, directed by Jon Cohn and produced by Stephanie Chang and Taylor Coffman. Developed by the National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, Cherry Lane Theater, Hatchery Arts, and now with Mutineer Theatre Company, THE WOODPECKER will preview on Friday, March 4 and will open on Saturday, March 5 and run through Sunday, April 3 at the Studio/Stage Theatre, 520 N. Western Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors Presents Free Roots of American Music Festival, 7/31-8/1

Marking its 40th anniversary, Lincoln Center Out of Doors continues its schedule of FREE performances on the plazas of Lincoln Center. The 40th annual edition of the festival presents a wide range of music and dance events by dozens of international, U.S. and local artists. Coming up on July 31 and August 1 is the annual Roots of American Music festival. Detailed descriptions of the performances, and a complete schedule, follow.

Gateway Festival Orchestra Launches 47th Season at Washington University 7/11

The Gateway Festival Orchestra will launch its 47th season of free Sunday-evening concerts at Washington University July 11 with 'Music for the Night,' a program of works on nocturnal themes. Musical director James Richards will conduct the performance, which will open with the 'witches' Sabbath' scene from Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain (1867). Next up will be American composer Arthur Foote's A Night Piece (1918), featuring solo flutist Jan Scott, professor emerita at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Concluding the program will be a medley of works from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Phantom of the Opera (1986) and from Johannes Brahms' Orchestral Serenade No. 1 in D Major (1857).

'BOOTH!' Holds NY Premiere at Skirball Center 6/2 - 6/7

Booth! an exciting new musical, will have its New York premiere at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at New York University from June 2 through June 7. An examination of the life of 19th Century maverick actor Edwin Booth, Booth! features music by noted composer Barbara Harbach and lyrics by Jonathan Yordy, with book and direction by Niyi Coker, Jr. James Richards conducts. The cast includes Jan Prokop, Keith Boyer, Amanda Boyer, Jessica Marsco and Kyle Minshew.

This inaugural production for the company will be directed by Joe Banno, and will run at the Art/Works Theatre through April 5, 2009.
