MEMPHIS to Become Available on DVD and Digital Download in January!

Shout! Factory and Broadway Worldwide, Inc. today announced a new deal to bring Broadway's 2010 Tony Award®-winning Best Musical MEMPHIS to the home entertainment marketplace in the U.S. and Canada. Under this multi-year agreement, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive home entertainment distributor to release MEMPHIS featuring the original Broadway cast, on Blu-rayTM, DVD and for digital download. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory's founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Broadway Worldwide's founder and CEO Bruce Brandwen.

JEKYLL & HYDE, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, et al. Coming to the Big Screen Worldwide

Suervision Media and Broadway Worldwide have plans to bring a handful of Broadway favorites to the big screen in the near future- Memphis, Jekyll & Hyde, Putting It Together, and Smokey Joe's Cafe will all make there way to theatres around the world. Memphis will reach the UK and Ireland in November, and South Africa and Hong Kong later this year. The other three shows will reach Europe January- March 2012, and then the rest of the world in April.

Take a much beloved Disney hit animated musical written by the incomparable Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and turn it into a big flashy Broadway musical directed by recent Tony award winner Casey Nicholaw fresh off 'The Book of Mormon'. Sounds like a no brainer, right? What can go wrong? Well, plenty as is evidenced by the 5th Avenue Theatre's most recent pre-Broadway tryout, 'Aladdin' which more resembles a Disney park show than a legit stage musical.

STAGE TUBE: Courtney Reed Performs 'Call Me a Princess' From 5th Avenue's ALADDIN!

The 5th Avenue Theatre's production of Aladdin features Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Jonathan Freeman takes the stage to embody the role he originally voiced for the film, the Royal Vizier Jafar. He is joined by comedic favorite Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Aladdin restores a trio of characters originally conceived by the film's creators: Omar, Babkak, and Kassim, played by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Brian Gonzales, and Brandon O'Neill, respectively. The East Coast was not the only crowd that was in a celebratory mood on Sunday night for the Tony Awards, at which The Book of Mormon came out the big winner. In Seattle, Washington, the premiere cast of Disney's Aladdin, directed by Mormon's Casey Nicholaw, was also celebrating the nine Mormon Tonys, including the one accepted by Nicholaw for Best Direction of a Musical. Recipients Announced For The Ninth Annual 5th Avenue Awards

Tonight, 2,400 high school students, teachers and parents from across Washington state packed Benaroya Hall for the Ninth Annual 5th Avenue Awards: Honoring High School Musical Theater, sponsored by Wells Fargo and supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Full Cast Announced for Disney's ALADDIN in Seattle!

The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce casting for the highly anticipated premiere of Disney's Aladdin, a new stage musical. The show will feature Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Photo Coverage: 'Cousin Brucie' Morrow Debuts in Memphis

The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS welcomed legendary radio personality and author, 'Cousin Brucie' Morrow to the Shubert theatre for a special one week only cameo appearance last night, May 3, 2011. He will play in the show through Sunday May 8, 2011. This event coincides with the release of Cousin Brucie's paperback edition, Rock & Roll...And the Beat Goes On; which is a tribute to the great musicians of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Autographed copies of the book are available at the theatre during his show appearances.

MEMPHIS Hits Movie Screens Beginning Today!

MEMPHIS, Broadway's current Tony Award® winning Best Musical, is hitting big screens nationwide for an exclusive four-night run on Thursday, April 28; Saturday, April 30; and Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m., with a special matinee on Sunday, May 1 at 12:30 p.m. (all times are local). This is the first time the current Tony Award®-winning Best Musical will be presented in movie theaters while concurrently running on Broadway. In addition to the electrifying musical, audiences will be treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the musical that won four 2010 Tony Awards® and continues to play to sold out houses on Broadway. MEMPHIS was captured live in performance with the original Broadway cast for this special Fathom event presentation.
