It's a special premiere event!  The ACTORS STUDIO will debut the new production of Harold Pinter's Old Times at The Ridgefield Playhouse before it heads to NYC for its Broadway run September 22 - October 15! 

Heresy is the world premiere and first opera by renowned Irish composer, Roger Doyle. Mr. Doyle, considered 'The Godfather of Irish Electronic Music,' speaks of his vast body of compositions as 'a celebration of the multiplicity of musical languages and evolving technologies.'

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts announced today the cast and creative team for Queens for a Year, written by T.D. Mitchell and featuring local actress Vanessa R Butler.

Following on the acclaimed 2014 edition of Virgil Thomson's collected newspaper music reviews, Library of America and Pulitzer Prize-winning music critic Tim Page now present Thomson's four classic full-length works in one volume for the first time. An engrossing tour of the tumultuous twentieth-century cultural scene and Thomson's extraordinary career as both a proponent and a practitioner of musical modernism, the volume opens with The State of Music, the no-holds-barred 1939 polemic that made Thomson's name as a critic.

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for A LIFE, the world premiere of a new play by Obie Award winner Adam Bock (A Small Fire and The Drunken City at Playwrights, The Receptionist, The Thugs, Swimming in the Shallows). Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (Marjorie Prime, Detroit, Maple and Vine at Playwrights; You Got Older; Belleville; This Wide Night; Smokefall), A LIFE will be the second production of the theater company's 2016/2017 Season.

The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces the full company for a major new revival of Tom Stoppard's TRAVESTIES - the first London revival in over 20 years. Patrick Marber directs Clare Foster (Cecily), Freddie Fox (Tristan Tzara), Tom Hollander (Henry Carr), Forbes Masson (Lenin), Peter McDonald (James Joyce), Amy Morgan (Gwendolen), Sarah Quist (Nadya) and Tim Wallers (Bennett). The production - which opens on 4 October, with previews from 22 September and runs until 19 November - is now completely sold out, breaking Menier box office records by becoming the first play to sell out ahead of its opening in the theatre's history.

Himself and Nora, the new musical, will end its engagement at Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane) tonight, August 6th. With book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Brielle and directed by Michael Bush, Himself and Nora will have played 26 previews and 71 performances at the time of closing.

Broadway In Chicago, Stageworks Media and TROIKA Entertainment have just announced casting for the upcoming National Touring production of CHEERS LIVE ON STAGE.

The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that continued this week, July 28 on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11.

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported earlier this week, Marni Nixon, perhaps best known for dubbing the singing voices of the leading actresses in films, including THE KING AND I, WEST SIDE STORY and MY FAIR LADY, passed away from breast cancer on July 24th. She was 86.

The woman best known for dubbing the singing voices of Hollywood stars also gave memorable stage and television performances.

Winsome Brown, the actress and writer who enjoyed considerable success with her solo play THIS IS MARY BROWN at La MaMa last year, returns to the stage with her newest work, HIT THE BODY ALARM, presented by The Performing Garage (33 Wooster St.), with previews set to begin September 20 prior to the solo play's official opening night September 22. Directed by Brad Rouse and Winsome Brown, HIT THE BODY ALARM is scheduled to run through October 2, 2016.
