(Oct. 23, 2013) – Tickets for Kansas City Ballet's 41st annual production of The Nutcracker,presented at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, went on sale at 9:00 a.m., October 21. The production, featuring the choreography of Todd Bolender, returns for 18 public performances and three matinees for schools. This two-act ballet continues to delight audiences with its magnificent sets, costumes and special effects. Three casts of Kansas City Ballet dancers and the new KCB II, plus more than 175 local youngsters ages 7 to 22 selected from Kansas City Ballet School, will perform E.T.A. Hoffman's story.

Each year, 6-7 semi-finalists are chosen out of all submissions. The plays are then read at a Workshop, where they are critiqued by judges. Three finalists win a scholarship as well as the opportunity to produce their play in front of a live audience. Each winning playwright has a chance to work with a student director and student performers to realize their productions on the stage.

Writing and design for the off-Broadway style musical are by two Lehigh Valley artists- James Jordan of the Touchstone Theatre Ensemble and Christopher Shorr, Theatre Director of Moravian College. THE PAN SHOW offers a re-imagining of both the musical, and a classic figure from Greek mythology, as the half-man, half-goat god Pan is dropped into a contemporary milieu of sex, drugs and rock and roll. The music features a variety of styles, including marches, techno, house, and rock, and has all been newly created by Jordan and Shorr.
