At The Acting Company's 40th Anniversary Ruby Ball on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Capitale, James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director of the Signature Theatre and the Richard Rodgers Director of Juilliard's Drama Division, will accept the John Houseman Award recognizing his profound commitment to the development of American actors and an audience for the theater. Earl Weiner, Board Chairman of both The Acting Company and the Theater Development Fund (TDF) will receive the Warburg Humanitarian Award for his outstanding philanthropic endeavor and leadership. According to Barbara Fleischman, Gala Chair, Harriet Harris(Thoroughly Modern Millie, upcoming in Cinderella) and Dr. Kate Levin, Commissioner of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs, will present the awards; Jim Dale will host, Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow, upcoming in Giant) will perform and tributes will be offered by Angela Lansbury, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Rainn Wilson, Dana Ivey, Hamish Linklater, Joe Dowling, Director of The Guthrie and Michael Kahn, Artistic Director of Washington's Shakespeare Theater. Four hundred guests complete an industry-filled audience of producers, directors, entertainers and other notables including The Honorable Thomas Kean, record producer Clive Davis,director/choreographer Susan Stroman, TV personality Pia Lindstrom, Juilliard President Joseph Polisi, composerMary Rodgers Guettel and The Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin. Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that performances begin tonight at 7:30 p.m. for THE PIANO LESSON by August Wilson and directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. The production, which has already announced a 1-week extension, runs from October 31 through December 16 and opens November 18 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The Juilliard School welcomes the inaugural class of its new Master of Fine Arts in Drama program this Fall 2012. Eight graduate actors have been accepted into the highly selective program and will begin classes this September. Juilliard's M.F.A. in Drama is a four-year conservatory program in actor training providing the tools necessary to meet the demands of an ever-evolving performing arts career and preparing young artists to become versatile and dynamic leaders in their field. The M.F.A program joins Juilliard's four-year B.F.A. program, headed by James Houghton, the Richard Rodgers Director of the Drama Division.

Signature Theatre is presenting the US premiere of TITLE AND DEED, a new play by Will Eno and directed by Judy Hegarty Lovett, which opened yesterday, May 20. The production, starring Conor Lovett, will run through June 17, 2012 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Company's new home The Pershing Square Signature Center. The 2012 Drama Critics Circle aAards were presented at a cocktail reception last night, May 14, at Angus McIndoe Restaurant. Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam, won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2011-2012 season. The award for Best Foreign Play went to Tribes, written by Nina Raine. Once received the award for Best Musical.
