Douglas Hodge stars as Willy Wonka in the brand-new production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London. Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, the story is brought to life with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman (Grammy winners for Hairspray; Smash), with a book by award-winning playwright and adaptor David Greig (The Bacchae; Tintin In Tibet). Matthew Broderick Signs on for Untitled CBS Comedy Pilot

According to Deadline.com, stage and screen star Matthew Broderick has signed on for an untitled comedy for CBS. The project will be directed by James Burrows and will center on Jack (played by Broderick) 'a recently widowed father who raises his 12-year old son while jumping back into the dating pool.'

Matthew Broderick Set for 'Moby Dick' Reading to Benefit South Street Seaport Museum

Matthew Broderick will appear in a benefit performance for New York City's South Street Seaport Museum on Monday, October 15 at 7:30 pm. The 'Celebrating Moby-Dick Benefit' will be an immersive evening of readings and films, starring Broderick as Ishmael, Edward Herrmann as Ahab, and John Douglas Thompson as Father Mapple.

In Act I our actors are in their 70's. Neil, the husband, has retired and is about to leave home to start a new business in New Zealand. The second Act opens and our three actors are now in their 40's. Hannah, the wife, is prepared to leave her husband and run away. In Act III all are now young children, and brother Willy is going to dig a hole and move to China.

Cherry Lane's Fiordellisi to Step Down as Artistic Director in 2011

According to the NY Times, Cherry Lane Theatre's Angelina Fiordellisi, will resign as Artistic Director sometime between March and June of 2011. Additionally, Fiordellisi plans to sell the building, which has been a Greenwich Village staple since 1924, due to ongoing financial struggles.
