Matrix Theatre Company opens its 2016-17 season with Sizwe Bansi is Dead by Athol Fugard onFriday, September 23, 2016. This powerful play weaves the story of a man living under apartheid rule in South Africa whose only hope for financially supporting his family means he must relinquish his very name.  The show runs through Sunday, October 16, 2016 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm.

Aladdin, Disney's hit Broadway musical, recently released a new music video featuring Adam Jacobs (Aladdin) performing a one-man version of "One Jump Ahead" from the show. In the arrangement made exclusively for Jacobs' debut solo album, "Right Where I Belong - Songs of Alan Menken," Jacobs voices multiple characters, each playfully brought to life in the vibrant new video.

ALADDIN'S Arielle and Adam Jacobs are set for Feinstein's 54 Below on May 29th.

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Adam Jacobs, currently starring as the title character in Disney's hit Broadway musical Aladdin, hosted an album release party for his debut solo album entitled 'Right Where I Belong' in the historic New Amsterdam Theatre on December 13, 2015. Check out photos from the party below!

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Adam Jacobs, currently starring as Aladdin in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, just released his debut solo album entitled 'Right Where I Belong,' a compilation of songs by Tony Award® and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Aladdin). Featured on the album are well known tunes such as 'Proud of Your Boy' (Aladdin), 'Go The Distance' (Hercules), 'Santa Fe' (Newsies), and 'Suddenly Seymour' (Little Shop of Horrors, in duet with Jacobs' sister Arielle Jacobs), as well as other melodies from Menken's earlier works. He just celebrated the release of the album with some of his Broadway friends, and BroadwayWorld was there for the special night. Watch as Adam and friends talk all things Menken below!

BroadwayWorld is excited to bring you an exclusive track from the album- 'Sailing On.' The song was the first that Menken wrote with Dean Pitchford in 1982 for an album that didn't end up happening. Now the song is out of the vaults and you can check out Jacobs' rendition below!

The first major gallery exhibition of the NYC fall art season opened at The Cavalier Gallery with a seminal show entitled American Realism: Past and Present on Thursday, October 22nd. Over 100 guests including collectors, critics, and many of the featured artists attended the opening night wine reception at the Cavalier's stunning and expansive fourth floor space at 3 West 57th Street. Cavalier Gallery announces an extraordinary survey of American Realist works, creating a historical show that highlights the importance and diversity of the American Realism Movement.   American Realism: Past and Present will be on view at Cavalier's NYC gallery located at 3 West 57th Street, 4th floor, New York, NY, from October 15th through November 30th.  An opening reception for the show will take place tonight, October 22nd from 5:00 - 8:00pm in the gallery.

'Sir Tim Rice & Friends,' a salute to the Disney on Broadway songbook was held on Friday, January 7 and hosted by Oscar and Tony Award-winning lyricist Tim Rice. All seven of the accomplished performers are veterans of one or more Disney Theatrical Productions' Broadway shows.
