New York City Ballet today announced that it is postponing the start of its 2022 Winter Season at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for nine days due to the recent surge of COVID-19 in New York City, which resulted in the Company not being able to rehearse during the last two weeks of December.

From January 11 through May 8, audiences across the country will have the opportunity to experience the extraordinary artistry of Ailey with a cornucopia of performances and programs, including two national tours—by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II—as well as the nationwide broadcast of the acclaimed documentary film AILEY, with its immersive portrait of dance pioneer Alvin Ailey, and the continuation of Ailey All Access, the organization's digital programming for all audiences.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lloyd A. Boyd III about his career and the season ahead for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for our 'Dancer Spotlight.'

The program features a new production of Robert Battle's sensuous, swirling duet Unfold, evoking the tenderness and ecstasy in Gustave Charpentier's aria “Depuis Le Jour” sung by the incomparable Leontyne Price. The evening also includes Ella, For Four, In/Side, Love Stories finale, Mass, and Takademe.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, has announced its spring 2022 season Featuring Commissions Celebrating New York's Modern, Street, and Vernacular Dance and Beatbox artists, and World Premiere of Third Bird by Isaac Mizrahi, Nico Muhly, and John Heginbotham.

In 2021, PRC hosted more artist residencies than ever before, welcoming more than 80 artists to the Center, and will open applications for additional residency opportunities through its RETREAT & RESTORE program on December 7, 2021 for two March 2022 residencies.
