Music, magic and merriment come together when Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida present the 29th annual 'Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade' holiday TV special, airing December 25 on the ABC Television Network.
Last night, eight-time Grammy Award winner and 2009 Tony® Award nominee Dolly Parton, attended a performance of Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, and visited with the cast backstage afterwards. Parton attended with the show's director, Jeff Calhoun. Calhoun first worked with Parton when he was cast as a dancer in the 1982 film version of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and recently directed both the US and UK tours of her Broadway musical 9 to 5. Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, has just announced that 2012 Tony Award nominee Ron Raines will temporarily join the cast in the role of Joseph Pulitzer on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 and will play the role through Sunday, December 16, 2012. He steps in for John Dossett, who will be starring in Giant at the Public Theater.
