National Dance Institute to Celebrate New Orleans at Symphony Space, 10/19

Symphony Space's 2013-14 Just Kidding season continues on Saturday, October 19th at 2pm with a return performance by the National Dance Institute (NDI) Celebration Team.This year's performance features choreography from NDI's signature Event of the Year, 'The Big Easy: NDI Celebrates New Orleans.'

Los Angeles Ballet Performs AGON and RUBIES at Grand Park Today

The Music Center will partner with Los Angeles Ballet to present that company's productions of Agon and Rubies this evening, July 6 at 7:30 pm, free to the public. Both have music by Igor Stravinsky and choreography by George Balanchine. This free event, under the stars in Grand Park and open to everyone, is part of the broad array of free public events The Music Center is presenting at Grand Park. The event is a one of a kind opportunity to spread a blanket, bring a picnic basket, and enjoy ballet in a whole new way.

National YoungArts Foundation Opens 2014 Applications; Launches Design Arts Program

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), a non-profit that recognizes and supports the nation's most talented young artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts, has announced that its 2014 application will be available online at http://www.youngarts.org/apply from May 31, 2013 through October 18, 2013. This year, students with an interest in architecture and design are also encouraged to apply for the inaugural YoungArts Design Arts program.

HBO Announces YoungArts MasterClass Season 2 Encores and Premieres

Season Two of the Emmy-nominated HBO series YoungArts MasterClass, in which renowned artists and masters teach and mentor young artists selected by the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), concludes with two nights of back-to-back episodes including encore presentations and premieres. Beginning at 6:30PM ET/PT on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 HBO2 will air encore presentations of Season Two episodes featuring master teachers Patti LuPone,Bobby McFerrin and John Guare.

It wasn't until Frederick Ashton undertook a new creation of the ballet that it finally became an international hit. He referred to it as his 'poor man's Pastorale,' a lovely reference to Beethoven's symphony where things go from simplicity to thunderstorms and back to normalcy and contentment with the world. He commissioned The Royal Opera House conductor, John Lanchberry, to orchestrate a new score that, while recalling French culture and manners (it did begin as a French ballet after all), is firmly rooted in an English sensibility

Pacific Northwest Ballet at City Center

Pacific Northwest Ballet is and should always be welcomed in New York. National YoungArts Foundation Raises Over $1M at 2013 Gala

On Saturday, January 12, 2013, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) raised in excess of $1 million in support of YoungArts programs in Miami, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles at An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala. Held in Downtown Miami, the evening honored director and choreographer Debbie Allen (Leadership Award), violinist Joshua Bell (Arison Award), and actor and alumnus Adrian Grenier (Alumni Award) and brought together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities. In addition to the honorees, notable attendees included Lin Arison, Sarah S. Arison, Elizabeth and Facundo Bacardi, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Charles Bronfman, Chick Corea, Jacques d'Amboise, Bill T. Jones, Jeannine and Paul T. Lehr, Marile and Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq., Debi Mazar, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jorge M. National YoungArts Foundation Honors Debbie Allen, Joshua Bell and Adrian Grenier Tonight

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) will honor director and choreographer Debbie Allen, violinist Joshua Bell and actor and alumnus Adrian Grenier at An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala tonight, January 12, 2013, held in Downtown Miami at the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and the Historic Alfred I. DuPont Building. The evening will bring together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities to applaud the participants in the 2013 edition of YoungArts' signature program, YoungArts Week, which provides 150 of the nation's most outstanding young talents in the visual, literary and performing arts with life-changing experiences, including master classes, workshops, inter-disciplinary activities, performances and exhibitions.

Dance Heritage Coalition Names 12 New Dance Treasures to List of 100

Twelve distinguished dance figures join the Dance Heritage Coalition's list of "America's Irreplaceable Dance Treasures." These new honorees were nominated by a national survey and vote in 2012 and were confirmed by the Dance Heritage Coalition (DHC) Board of Directors. The 12 figures are celebrated online along with the initial list of 100 in an Online Exhibition of Dance Treasures, through a grant funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
