Bay Street Theater has announced that FIVE PRESIDENTS, the new play by Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (Six Feet Under, The West Wing, and House of Cards), will extend its run for an additional week due to popular demand. The production will now run from tonight, June 23-July 19.

It's the 20th anniversary of Broadway's tender and funny, smart and sexy Victor/ Victoria and the Ogunquit Playhouse is celebrating by mounting a full-scale glamorous production of the musical comedy June 24 to July 18, complete with the original Broadway and touring sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Willa Kim.

The new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, recorded its cast album on Thursday, May 28th. Authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). Two years ago, as writer/actors Jim Blanchette and Jacob Smith were waiting for a quick load in for their Hollywood Fringe festival show, evading incontinent birds in an alley and talking about what Fringe artists go through, they started forming ideas for the "fringiest" of Fringe shows. At the same time, their colleague Corey Lynn Howe and her company Village Idiom Productions presented an acclaimed version of the hit musical [title of show] and experienced both successes and challenges all their own. As they talked over drinks at Fringe Central, what the three quickly realized is that Fringe is about a lot more than the artists and their shows, it's also about hard work, camaraderie, ambition, drinking, frustration, varying levels of talent, lunacy and, at many times, absolute absurdity.

The new musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will play its final performance at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), Sunday May 10, 2015. DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will have played 26 preview and 23 regular performances.

OPERA America, the national nonprofit service organization for opera, is pleased to announce it has awarded $300,000 in grants to nine opera companies through the third year of its Building Opera Audiences program, generously funded by the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation. DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will be back on Broadway duty tonight, April 3, BroadwayWorld has confirmed. Following the cancellation of last night's preview due to leading man Tam Mutu's illness, performances will officially resume tonight at the Broadway Theatre with Mutu's understudy, Bradley Dean, in the role of Yurii Zhivago.
