On June 1 from 6-8 pm, The Shakespeare Society will host their third annual Playing Shakespeare Celebration at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South). The Shakespeare Medal will be presented to Dame Helen Mirren, and The Linda Gross Playing Shakespeare Award will be presented to Lily Rabe.

On Monday, June 9, 2014, Sir Kenneth Branagh presented the Shakespeare Medal to Richard Easton and The Public Theater's Oskar Eustis presented the Linda Gross Playing Shakespeare Award to Hamish Linklater at the Shakespeare Society's Annual Playing Shakespeare Celebration. Michael Pennington, two-time Olivier Award nominee, an artist of international stature and one of England's greatest classical actors, will play the title role in William Shakespeare's tragedy King Lear directed by Arin Arbus. For the second production in Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural season at its first permanent home, the new Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place in Brooklyn, Mr. Pennington leads a company of 22 actors. A stellar performance of 'As You Like It' by William Shakespeare is now on stage at Two River Theater in Red Bank through February 16th. Metropolitan area audiences should not miss this show.

Jacob Fishel will be playing the part of Orlando in 'As You Like It' at Two Rivers Theater in Red Bank. The show opens on January 25th and runs through February 16th.

Two River Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, continues its 2013/2014 Season with Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like it, directed by Michael Sexton (Two River's Henry V), the Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Society in New York. Performances will begin in Two River's Rechnitz Theater, 21 Bridge Avenue, on Saturday, January 25, with the opening night on Friday, January 31 at 8pm. The production must close on Sunday, February 16. Tickets are available from 732.345.1400 or tworivertheater.org. The lead production sponsor is Monmouth University.

Two River Theater's current production of Henry V is being promoted with the tagline, "Kings are born, leaders are chosen." Beginning today, lawn signs endorsing "Henry V for King of France" are showing up across Red Bank and Monmouth County as part of a stealth marketing campaign. Please see the attached photo. The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) announces its 2012-2013 Season, which includes expanded programming and an ambitious line-up of events including the popular Major Evening Events, featuring commentary and discussion with great thinkers, live performances, and music. In addition, Shakespeare Talks, a new series of intimate events, is aimed at opening up the conversation about Shakespeare with the audience and colleagues in the theatrical, academic, and educational fields. A more interactive evening, the onstage conversations will lead to a question and answer session with the audience and feature a post show reception with the participants. The Shakespeare Talks series is in partnership with The Pearl Theatre Company.
