Culver City residents and married couple Jack Stehlin and Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin are getting ready to open Shakespeare's OTHELLO, a co-production between the Odyssey Theatre and The New American Theatre, on Friday, October 24 at the Odyssey Theatre. Jeannine, Managing Director of The New American Theatre, is producing OTHELLO together with Ron Sossi, Artistic Director of the Odyssey Theatre, with Jack starring as the villainous Iago. With his strong physical presence and background as part Mexican and part Native American, A Martinez is playing Othello, the Moor. The production is directed by John Perrin Flynn, Artistic Director of Rogue Machine Theatre.

David Trainer directs the Los Angeles Premiere of David Greig's celebrated new version of August Strindberg's psychological thriller CREDITORS, a co-production between two of the city's most respected theaters, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and The New American Theatre. A sexy, savage, darkly comic (and very modern) take on the battle of the sexes, David Greig's new version of August Strindberg's psychological thriller will now make its Los Angeles Premiere in a co-production between two of the city's most respected theaters, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and The New American Theatre. In this toxic triangle, Adolph anxiously awaits the return of his wife to their seaside resort while being comforted by his worldly advisor, Gustav. But comfort soon turns to destruction as old wounds are opened, insecurities are laid bare and former debts are settled in this fierce and funny tale of obsession, honor and revenge.

The summer theater season wouldn't be complete without multiple interpretations of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream to quench our appetite for the Bard's most beloved comedy. I have never seen a production more understandable or better staged than the current one at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presented by the New American Theatre, directed by Jack Stehlin.

The New American Theatre presents Five Beauties, 5 one-acts by Tennessee Williams. Five Beauties is extended to November 20, playing Sunday eves at 7 pm beginning October 23rd. This extension is in rep with their new production of William Hoffman's award-winning 80s play As-Is, set to open November 5.
