"Willy Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He's not the finest character that ever lived. But he's a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him."
Although taken from the Arthur Miller script, a terrible thing is also happening to the Willy Loman in Daydream Theatre Company's comedic musical spin on Death of a Salesman, THE INSIDE OF HIS SEVERED HEAD, which could alternately be referred to as Willy Loman: Vampire Hunter.
What made the Hot List? BLUES IN THE NIGHT at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, ICE at 24th STreet Theatre, LOST IN THE LIGHT by CRE Outrach at The Blue Door in Culver City, SCHOOL OF ROCK at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre, THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE at The Road Theatre Company on Lankershim, and SOUTH PACIFIC at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Check out the latest buzz below and go see a show! Reviews by BWW Sr. Editor Ellen Dostal (LADCC).
As kid musicals go, SCHOOL OF ROCK isn't half bad. It falls somewhere between ANNIE and MATILDA on the Richter scale of stories about downtrodden kids overcoming obstacles to win in the end. It's got enough emotional oomph to tug on your heartstrings and it gives you plenty of reasons to happily cheer the underdogs on. It's also making stars out of its young cast members, right and left.
Continuing the countrywide search for the opportunity to 'join the band', further kids open auditions will take place later this year in London on 16 and 17 May for musicians and on 21 and 23 May for ensemble, in Plymouth on 8 September and in Manchester on 22 September 2018. If you are between 8 - 12 years old and play a rock instrument (guitar, bass, piano, and/or drums) or sing, registration and further details can be found by contacting Jessica Ronane Casting
