The Handel And Haydn Society To Honor Women With Every Voice Streaming Concert

Members of the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage in America by honoring the incredible contributions of female composers with the Every Voice concert for peace and justice. Led by H+H's new Programming Consultant Reginald Mobley, H+H's beloved annual community concert will move online this year and feature music that celebrates the achievements of Queer Women, Women of Color, and Women of Boston. Every Voice will be available free of charge, Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3:00PM.

Andre Raphel To Conduct The Detroit Symphony Orchestra In 41st Annual Classical Roots Concert

André Raphel conducts the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on March 8 and 9, 2019 in its annual Classical Roots Concert taking place in Orchestra Hall.  The Saturday, March 9 performance will be a gala concert and a live webcast.  This year's tribute honors  George Walker,  the esteemed composer, pianist and educator who was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1996 for Lilacs, and who passed away this past August at age 96.  Composer Robert A. Harris will be a special Classical Roots Honoree.   It will be the 41st year that the DSO has presented Classical Roots, honoring the achievements of African American composers. 

Handel And Haydn' Society Presents 'Every Voice: A Celebration Of Our Community'

On November 3 and 4, The Handel and Haydn Society will celebrate the dynamic spirit of the local community with a celebration of song. Every Voice: A Celebration of Our Community will bring together members of the H+H Orchestra and Chorus, as well as students from H+H's Vocal Arts Program, for an uplifting musical festival for justice. The performances will be presented in partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry and Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion.

Los Angeles Master Chorale Presents WADE IN THE WATER, 4/30

The Los Angeles Master Chorale puts spirituals at the forefront of a concert called “Wade in the Water” to be performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday, April 30 at 7 PM. The concert features 13 songs with the spirituals juxtaposed with other folk music traditions such as early American shape note singing, as well as a contemporary Korean piece, and a pair of European choral masterpieces from the 20th century. The concert will feature 48 singers performing a cappella, conducted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and Assistant Conductor Jenny Wong. The concert also provides an opportunity to highlight several of the Master Chorale's solo voices on the program.
