FIAF and the New Museum Present POST-PARTY DREAM STATE CAUCUS

As part of the 2016 edition of Crossing the Line, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF)'s celebrated contemporary arts festival, FIAF and the New Museum present Post-Party Dream State Caucus from American interdisciplinary art collective My Barbarian on Thursday, November 3 at 6:30pm at the New Museum.

Miller Theatre Opens 2016-17 Composer Portraits with JOHN ZORN

As prolific as he is provocative, John Zorn returns to Composer Portraits with five new works, all slated to receive their world premiere performances. A dream team of new music superstars comes together to give voice to Zorn's newest creations, affirming once more the depth and breadth of his musical palette, which draws on punk, jazz, klezmer, classical, and other genres-spanning continents and centuries.

Festival Verdi 2016 Set for Parma and Busseto

Tradition, a desire to embrace the new and the ever increasing international profile are the predominant features of the 2016 edition of the Festival Verdi in Parma and Busseto. This year's festival, returning for the month of October (www.festivalverdi.it), will be dedicated to the German poet and playwright Friedrich Schiller, who has always been a source of inspiration and subject matter for Italian composers throughout time, including above all Giuseppe Verdi.

Umanism and Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Present I VICINI Reading Tonight

Umanism and Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at CUNY, in association with the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, present a reading of excerpts of Fausto Paravidino's I Vicini (Neighbors) as part of the Italian Playwrights Project Wednesday, September 21 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York (686 Park Avenue, between 68th and 69th Avenue).

Pirandello Potpourri Set for Italian Cultural Center, 6/28

Pirandello 150 Presents: Pirandello Potpourri, an evening of short pieces by the master. Tuesday, June 28th at 6pm at The Italian Cultural Institute, 686 Park Avenue (68th/69th St.) followed by a reception. John Martello and Angela Pietropinto will appear.

Lua Hadar and Jazz Trio Twist Perform Jukebox Hits in WHEN IN ROME at The Italian Cultural Institute

International vocalist Lua Hadar and her jazz trio Twist perform Italian and American jukebox hits from the 1950s through 80s in their new show, WHEN IN ROME. Produced by New Performance Group and The Italian Cultural Institute at the Institute's new Opera Plaza location (San Francisco Civic Center), the show features popular Italian and American hits by Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Luigi Tenco, Henry Mancini, Domenico Modugno and more, including such favorites as Arrivederci Roma, Al di la, Volare and of course When in Rome.

Emanuele Aldrovandi's BUTTERFLIES Is In Scena's 2016 Mario Fratti Award Winner

IN SCENA! ITALIAN THEATER FESTIVAL NY announces the winner of the 2016 Mario Fratti Award: BUTTERFLIES by Emanuele Aldrovandi. Presented annually to an emerging Italian playwright, the winning play is translated into English and the playwright receives a specially commissioned lithograph by artist Victoria Febrer.

ITALIAN DANCE CONNECTION ('IDACO nyc'), Vanessa Tamburi, Artistic Director announces its 2016 Festival Week, May 24-28, the organization's second annual contemporary dance and art event in NYC. A wide variety of artistic styles await audiences with over 20 dance companies, artists and filmmakers to participate. Dance workshops, creative residencies, thematic roundtables, site specifics, dance performances and an opening event on May 24th at 6pm at the Italian Cultural Institute, 686 Park Av, NYC are included in the Festival week. Events will be held in various locations; all dance performances are to be held at the Sheen Center,18 Bleecker Street, NYC. Performances begin on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30pm.

Ensemble for the Romantic Century to Present THE HEART IS NOT MADE OF STONE, 4/27

New York City, NY — Celebrating its 15th season, the Ensemble for the Romantic Century (ERC) returns to BAM Fisher for six performances of Anna Akhmatova: The Heart is Not Made of Stone. Written by Eve Wolf and directed by Donald T. Sanders, this multi-media production examines the troubled relationship between artistic creation and totalitarianism through the perspective of the Russian poet Anna Akhmatova (1889-1966). This tale of passion, love, political repression, and redemption is interwoven with music by Russian composers' Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.

Cabaret Comico, San Francisco's Version of Italy's Comic Cabaret Festival to Return in November

The San Francisco Italian Athletic Club in the heart of North Beach will host the main event of Cabaret Comico 2015 on Friday, November 13 with original songs and Broadway comedy tunes performed by 16 of the Bay Area's funniest singers and songwriters. And for the first time since its 2013 inaugural event, Cabaret Comico welcomes visitors from the Shaman to Showman festival. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to UNCHR ITALY U.N for critical refugee relief, unhcr.org/pages/49e48e996.html
