Barak Ballet Announces Two World Premieres At The Broad Stage

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage presents Barak Ballet for a program of two world premieres: Cypher (choreographed by Melissa Barak) and Desert Transport (choreographed by Nicolas Blanc), as well as the return of E/SPACE which had its world premiere at The Broad Stage in 2017.  Barak Ballet will perform on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 at 7:30pm.  This will be the fourth time Barak Ballet has performed at The Broad Stage, although it's the first time The Broad Stage will be presenting the company.

Joe Goode Performance Group Presents The World Premiere Of STILL STANDING

The Joe Goode Performance Group presents the world premiere of Still Standing, an immersive performance experience through San Francisco's historic Haas-Lilienthal house, July 12 - August 5, 2018.   Still Standing is Joe Goode's latest dance theater work incorporating his signature combustion of movement, word, song, and audience interaction. Using real, written, and imagined stories from the dancers and musicians, Joe Goode explores how we find resilience, persist, and reinvent. The work transports audiences through San Francisco's historic Haas-Lilienthal House, a mansion built in 1886 that recently completed a $4.3 million restoration. Designed by Peter R. Schmidt for William and Bertha Haas, it survived the 1906 earthquake and fire, and remained in the Haas family until 1973, after which it was entrusted to the San Francisco Heritage to serve as the organization's headquarters.   

Flying Foot Forum Returns With Another Signature Production FRENCH TWIST

Park Square Theatre's Andy Boss Thrust Stage is once again the home to Flying Foot Forum's signature storytelling with FRENCH TWIST, a cabaret of gorgeous music, theatrical storytelling and percussive dance set in a Paris Nightclub that runs from June 22 to July 15, 2018. This 25th anniversary production starts with the premise of the company's original production which premiered at The Guthrie in 2008, but now includes new characters, melodic new songs and inventive dances. Director/choreographer Joe Chvala fuses vaudeville, tap, cabaret, follies, opera, and percussive art forms to evoke American's wildest imaginings of life in the City of Light.

The Sokolow Theater/Dance Ensemble is proud to present Modern Rebels, a collection of rarely seen dances ranging from the groundbreaking works of modern dance pioneers Isadora Duncan, Doris Humphrey, Ruth St. Denis, Anna Sokolow, Talley Beatty, and Jane Dudley, to contemporary artists whose artistic lineage is a direct continuation of modern dance tradition.   Two performances, May 29 & 30, at The Tank, 312 West 36th Street.

AXIS Dance Company Crosses The Bridge To San Francisco This May At Z Space

The City of Oakland represents in San Francisco when AXIS Dance Company, the country's leading physically integrated dance company crosses the bridge and comes to Z Space in the Mission District as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, and its first season under new Artistic Director, Marc Brew. The program will feature Radical Impact, a new work produced in collaboration with composer JooWan Kim, Artistic Director of Oakland-based Hip Hop Orchestra, Ensemble Mik Nawooj. The original score for the piece will be performed live by string quartet.

Brooklyn Ballet, a unique and interdisciplinary dance company rooted in the classical idiom, presents Revisionist History, a provocative and diverse Spring season of broad range and repertoire. Brooklyn Ballet's programming is ever-expanding, embracing multifaceted dance styles and refashioning historical works. April's offerings include works of legendary dance makers George Balanchine, Merce Cunningham, Isadora Duncan and Michel Fokine, as well as premieres of mixed genre and interdisciplinary works by Artistic Director Lynn Parkerson. The Company presents 5 performances, April 19-22, in The Mark O'Donnell Theater at The Actors Fund Arts Center in downtown Brooklyn.

SFDanceworks Announces Third Season

A classic from Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato alongside world premieres by Danielle Rowe and James Sofranko highlight SFDanceworks' third season June 8 - 10. Rounding out the program is a duet by Penny Saunders, a recent recipient of the Princess Grace award for choreography. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Continues Residency At The Soraya

Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse revives A Marriage Contract, Augustin Daly's uproarious and poignant commentary on marriage, family, and the contrast between county and city life. Staged by Artistic Director Alex Roe at Metropolitan Playhouse, 220 E. 4th Street, New York City. This production marks, to our knowledge, the first time the play is being presented since 1892 premiere. It is worth noting that the script only exists in manuscript form and was never published.
