The Daily Mail writes that Laura Pitt-Pulford and Haydn Oakley will star in a stage musical adaptation of Basil Dearden's 1957 film THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH.

Called 'the greatest songwriter that has ever lived' by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin is known for innumerable American classics such as 'White Christmas,' 'God Bless America,' 'Anything You Can Do,' and 'Top Hat, White Tie and Tails.' Jerome Kern said it all: 'Irving Berlin... is American music.'

George Gershwin Alone is a delightful, touching and captivating evening of sheer joy. Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano are in a really good mood. The infectious buoyancy of their new show at the Metropolitan Room, Shoulder Season (Don't ask me what the title means. Despite explanation, I haven't a clue.), will erase world news, ease arthritis, and make love seem possible again. Well, maybe not all that. Its warm, cheerful, sometimes exuberant musicality is nonetheless recommended for whatever ails you.

Infinity Theatre Company (Anna Roberts Ostroff & Alan Ostroff) and Perry Street Theatricals (Martin Platt & David Elliott) just announced that the first Broadway production of DAMES AT SEA will set sail at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44 Street), beginning performances Thursday, September 24, 2015, with an opening night of Thursday, October 22, 2015.

On Sunday, June 31, 2015, New York City Ballet offered the sweet, the mundane, and the historical. If I were a lyricist I could write a song about this, but since my iambic pentameter is almost non-existent, and my Stephen Sondheim thesaurus nowhere to be found, I guess I'll have to push forward in everyday prose.

OKLAHOMA! opens on Friday, July 17th , 2015, playing until Sunday, July 26th , and features an added mid-week matinee on July 22nd , at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks. 

The musical theater masterpiece My Fair Lady, with music by Frederick Loewe and book/lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, kicks off the 2015 Music Circus season at Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 65th season for the venerable Sacramento institution. Performances are Tuesday, June 9 through Sunday, June 14, kicking off the season two weeks earlier than usual. The stellar cast includes a number of Broadway veterans and Music Circus audience favorites.

June is just around the corner. In New York, this means that spring is melting into summer and that New York City's annual celebration and remembrance of the original Stonewall riots is here. While the official NYC Pride website only lists a week's worth of activities late in June, denizens of the city are aware of festivities spanning the whole month. Raucously witty and devilishly ribald, love and money are at stake in David Ives' hilarious, rhyming 'translaptation' of The Heir Apparent by Jean-Francois Regnard. Comedic director extraordinaire Matt Walker directs the Los Angeles premiere of Regnard's newly rediscovered 18th century comic masterpiece for a June 19 opening at International City Theatre. Two low-priced previews are set for June 17 and 18.

Walnut Street Theatre's 2014-2015 Independence Studio on 3 season concludes with a musical that captures the spirit of America through the timeless songs of Irving Berlin, I LOVE A PIANO. Directed and choreographed by Ellie Mooney, the production continues through June 28th.
