Lincoln Center Announces January-March TARGET FREE THURSDAYS Lineup

An exciting range of performances including a post-modern variety show, a contemporary psychedelic funk opera, a celebration for the acclaimed Apollo Theater in conjunction with its 75th anniversary exhibition, and the U.S. debut of Daorum, an innovative collaboration between Korean and Australian jazz musicians highlight the next three months of TARGET® FREE THURSDAYS at the David Rubenstein Atrium.

The Sheldon Art Gallery Presents GINA ALVAREZ AND JANA HARPER: POEMS BY BOBBY THIEL 2/18-6/4

This collaborative print project was produced by St. Louis artists Gina Alvarez and Jana Harper during a residency at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, Maryland. The series was inspired by a child's notebook of poems made in the 1940s by a distant relative of Alvarez. The artists appropriated the titles of his poems and worked to create 'collaged' images that combine photographs, appropriated images, shapes and colors inspired by Japanese prints, and Indian miniatures. They were made by layering digital prints with traditional printmaking techniques and hand-work that included drawing, stitching and collage.

The Children's Art Village (CAV) works with children in orphanages and schools to introduce art, music and dance components into the children's education and to foster self-confidence, personal growth and healing. Their mission is to connect children to themselves and to their creative spirits through art, with a focus on using art and music as mediums of expression to initiate the process of healing for children who have been abandoned. They promote and support creating and maintaining sustainable art and music programs in each of the different locations around the world where they work. CAV uses art and music therapy practices to help the children work through trauma related to abandonment, poverty and slavery.

JPAS Features DROWSY CHAPERONE in 2011 Season

Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) is thrilled to be working with New Orleans theatre mega-talents Gary Rucker and Kelly Fouchi of Theatre 13 in the upcoming 34th Season 2011-2012. These two local theatre regulars join JPAS as director and choreographer (respectively) for a co-production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE in September of 2011. Rucker and Fouchi have graced the JPAS stages in past productions and JPAS is ecstatic to have these two on the production side for the 34th Season. JPAS looks forward to announcing their full season with production teams in early Spring.
