The Brown Paper Box Co. to Present [TITLE OF SHOW] This Summer

The Brown Paper Box Co. announces the Chicago storefront premiere of [title of show], with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell. The show will run from July 17 through August 16, 2015 at Rivendell Theatre in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood (5779 N. Ridge Ave.). Press performances are Sunday, July 19 at 2 P.M. and Monday, July 20 at 7:30 P.M. Audition information and more will be posted at www.brownpaperbox.org.

HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA: Ravenwood's Emily Whitlow

Today, we celebrate the birthday of Emily Whitlow, a 17-year-old (or is she 18 today?) student at Ravenwood High School in neighboring Williamson County. A native of New York, Emily moved to Tennessee with her family at the age of 15 and since then she has appeared in several school productions, including her turn as Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! during her sophomore year. In addition she's appeared in Circle Players' bare and Shrek the Musical and Promises, Promises at Boiler Room Theatre.

FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training to Stage [TITLE OF SHOW]

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training continues its 2014-15 season with the Tony-nominated and Obie-winning Broadway hit [TITLE OF SHOW], a witty and hip musical that replays the real-life story of its own creation. It was originally conceived, written and performed by writer Jeff Bowen and composer/lyricist Hunter Bell. Directed by New York-based artist Amanda Friou, the Conservatory's production will preview on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:30pm with a special 'Pay What You Can Performance,' allowing audience members who purchase their tickets that day to pay whatever they can afford to see the show. It will officially open on Wednesday, February 18 at 8pm and run through Sunday, March 8.

Tony & Grammy Winners Among Participants for Goodspeed's Johnny Mercer Writers Colony

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 46 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus later this month to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 25 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Jennifer Ashley Tepper's The Untold Stories of Broadway, Volume 2 officially hit the shelves yesterday, November 18, from Dress Circle Publishing. The second book in a multivolume collection examines eight Broadway theaters and over 70 years of theatrical history through the voices of such Broadway greats as Jason Robert Brown, Joanna Gleason, Jonathan Groff,Jeremy Jordan,Laura Linney, Joe Mantello, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Robert Morse, Harold Prince, Charles Strouse, Alex Timbers, Julie Taymor, Robert Wankel, George C. Wolfe and more. The eight Broadway theaters featured in the second book are the Palace Theatre, the Barrymore Theatre, the Gershwin Theatre, the Circle in the Square, the Shubert Theatre, the Criterion Center Stage Right, the Vivian Beaumont Theatre and the Nederlander Theatre. Tepper and her Broadway friends just celebrated the launch of the book at Sardis and you can check out photos from the special event below!

American Music Theatre Project to Host SCROOGE IN LOVE! Workshop, 11/23

The ?American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will present a 'by-invitation-only' workshop presentation of the new musical 'Scrooge In Love!' for Northwestern theatre faculty, students, staff and Chicago theatre industry members, on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Performers included Kirstin Maldonado, Kate Wetherhead,Barrett Wilbert Weed, Tituss Burgess, Keala Settle, Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller, Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk, Joey Contreras, Adam Gwon, Jeff Bowen, Georgia Stitt,Hunter Bell and more, with 5J Barrow returning as the Broadway Unlocked House Band.
