Marlene Ver Planck sings a story the way the rest of us wishes we could tell one: with polish and panache, convincing listeners that each and every lyric is her own. She has backed-up Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme and has been out front of the Beneke, Miller and Dorsey orchestras, singing those stories like no one else. A long list of recordings documents her talent, many featuring the arrangements of her gifted late husband, Billy. Seven of his takes on Cy Coleman, some Harry Warren and Marlene's favorites from Ivan Lins, Paul Williams and Ronny White make up her new CD, Ballads...mostly (Audiophile).

"'Perfect Pairs at The Palace' teams up some of the best entertainers in the different genres which will bring something unexpected and exciting to the mix that I think our audiences will love!" This fall Courtyard by Marriott Stamford presents A Broadway/Cabaret/Jazz Series "Perfect Pairs at The Palace." This exciting new series will feature the very best dynamic duos in Broadway, Cabaret and Jazz performing in an intimate setting on the HARMAN Stage on four evenings throughout the fall and winter. This series is made possible through the generosity of Presenting Sponsor Courtyard by Marriott Stamford and supporting sponsor Norman Drubner.

AfroSolo Arts Festival 20 will present a Free Outdoor Jazz Concert in Yerba Buena Gardens on Saturday, August 3, 1-3 pm. The Yerba Buena Gardens are located at Mission Street between 3rd and 4th St. Admission: Free and open to the public. No pets (certified service or companion animals excepted).

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, has announced that The Rossano Sportiello Trio will debut at the Cafe Carlyle during their two week engagement running tonight, June 11 and June 22. The Trio will be performing their program, The Smiling Piano: A Tribute To The Artistry Of Jazz Piano Icon George Shearing.
