Barak Ballet is a formidable dance company that was created and fleshed out by Artistic Director Melissa Barak, who is a native Californian, and who has performed with the New York City Ballet and the Los Angeles Ballet Companies before forming her own Company. She trained at the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica beginning at the age of eight. She has performed the works of such balletic luminaries such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon, Eliot Feld and Robert Garland.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage presents Barak Ballet for a program of two world premieres: Cypher (choreographed by Melissa Barak) and Desert Transport (choreographed by Nicolas Blanc), as well as the return of E/SPACE which had its world premiere at The Broad Stage in 2017.  Barak Ballet will perform on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 at 7:30pm.  This will be the fourth time Barak Ballet has performed at The Broad Stage, although it's the first time The Broad Stage will be presenting the company.

Friday night at the Edison Ballroom The 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff were presented for excellence in theatrical costume design. These annual awards honor the designers and craftspeople who costume theatre and dance the world over. This year's awardees were coincidentally masters from the world of dance.

Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

It must be galling for many ballet companies that their very operation is dependent on extended holiday performances of 'The Nutcracker' year after year.

When the opening night curtain rose on the final work of an emotional night - the last performances of the Suzanne Farrell Ballet that has been in residence at the Kennedy Center for 15 years - there was applause even before there was any movement.

Last seen in 2008 as part of Ballet Across America, Kansas City Ballet marks its first full engagement at the Kennedy Center in the cherished holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, November 22 & 24 26, for seven performances in the Opera House. This year's version is a truly opulent D.C. premiere recently reimagined and choreographed by artistic director Devon Carney in 2015. Following the tradition of other visiting companies, dozens of local children from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area will join the company on stage, while the Arlington Children's Chorus lend their voices to the dazzling snow scene. All performances will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

Due to Hurricane Harvey, Houston Ballet is unable to perform the opening two productions at the company's home venue. However, Houston Ballet is pleased to report that select performances of fall programming have been rescheduled at THE HOBBY CENTER - SAROFIM HALL. For a limited time on October 26 and 27 at The Hobby Center, Houston Ballet will perform an exhilarating mixed repertory program, Poetry in Motion, featuring a collection of three works that reflect different traditions and expressions in ballet.

Casting for American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Fall Season at the David H. Koch Theater was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

As The Music Center wraps up its 14th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, Angelenos have the opportunity to see some of the world's finest dancers perform a mix of iconic ballets and new pieces in The Music Center's BalletNOW.  Following the popularity of the first BalletNOW in 2015, The Music Center commissioned this highly innovative three-performance program, featuring international ballet sensation and New York City Ballet Principal Tiler Peck as curator.  Peck created a mixed repertory to highlight the versatility and athleticism of today's ballet dancers including pieces that pair classical dancers with their contemporaries in other dance genres. 

New York City Ballet continues to include new choreographies in its repertoire, billed this season as the Here and Now Festival. On May 12, 2017 NYCB performed four newer works created in 1994, 1998, 2006, and a world premiere.

Pride. Greed. Envy. Sloth. Gluttony. Lust. Wrath. Collectively, they are the seven deadly sins - the cardinal sins, the antitheses of the seven virtues. Creatively, they are the inspiration for choreographer Christopher Stuart's most recent work, 7 Deadly Sins featuring music by the Nashville-based collective known as Ten Out of Tenn, and now brought to life by Nashville Ballet in a twin-bill that closes out the company's 2016-17 season on a resounding note of artistic achievement.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary season, the Kennedy Center's own The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, returns to the Eisenhower Theater stage for four performances, October 21-23, with an expansive all-Balanchine program. Including two large-scale company premieres, one of which is a revival of the rarely performed work Gounod Symphony and the patriotic Stars and Stripes, the program also features the return of an audience favorite, Danses Concertantes. All performances will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

In 2015 Kansas City Ballet launched an all-new production of The Nutcracker and broke box office records and received critical acclaim. On Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 the KC Ballet is offering 50% off select tickets for select performances.
