Ann Hampton Callaway, Hilary Kole and More to Take Part in HIDDEN TREASURES Benefit, 11/5

On November 5th at 7 pm, the Theatre at Saint Peters (Home of the York Theatre) Lexington Avenue at 54th Street will resound with the songs of Larry Kerchner ("Somewhere in Time") sung by some of today's most formidable singers: Headliner: Ann Hampton Callaway, Hilary Kole, Laurel Masse, Kevin Spirtas, Stacy Sullivan, Jeff Harnar, Eric Comstock & Barbara Fasano, Karen Oberlin, La Tanya Hall, Sidney Myer, Raissa Katona Bennett, Jill O'Hara and a host of others. Musical Director is Tex Arnold. The event is produced by Sandi Durell.

Shana Farr Receives Julie Wilson Award at 23rd NY Cabaret Convention Today, 10/17

Singer-actress- cabaret performer Shana Farr will receive the 2012 Julie Wilson Award, presented annually by the Mabel Mercer Foundation 'to a cabaret singer who is a rising star,' at the 23rd New York Cabaret Convention at the Rose Theater, Jazz At Lincoln Center, today, October 17, at 6 PM, the Opening Night of the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention, hosted by KT Sullivan, Artistic Director of the Mabel Mercer Foundation.

Finalists Named for Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition

In 1942, a teenage Sarah Vaughan won the Apollo Theater's amateur singing competition in a performance that was a launching pad for a career that transformed one of America's original art forms and elevated the craft of jazz vocal music. Seventy years later, Vaughan's legacy continues to resonate and will be celebrated with the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, part of the TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival at NJPAC and at venues around Vaughan's hometown of Newark, N.J.

The stars were out this week at 54 Below. Stars ranging from Hollywood's Bradley Cooper and Academy Award nominee Amy Irving to Tony Award winners Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, David Hyde Pierce, Betty Buckley, John Benjamin Hickey, Ron Rifkin, John Kander, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman were in attendance for Victor Garber's final performance at the venue on August 20. Sarah RIce, who co-starred opposite Garber' as Johanna in the original Broadway cast of Sweeney Todd, also stopped backstage for a reunion. Earlier in the week, Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson and vocalist Tom Postilio came out for Hilary Kole's opening night.

Featured this week at 54 BELOW, the new performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, is New York-based singing sensation Hilary Kole. Kole has been hailed as a "musical marvel" by Rex Reed, and having "a glowing voice with something to say" from The New York Times. You may know her from her starring role in the critically acclaimed, off-Broadway hit, Our Sinatra, or as the youngest singer to ever grace the stage of the Rainbow Room. Feinstein's at Loew's Regency, hosted "OUR SINATRA: A MUSICAL CELEBRATION" last night, January 17. The show's original stars and creators - Eric Comstock,Christopher Gines and Hilary Kole - shared their joy passion for Sinatra's classics. The show includes over 50 songs interspersed with witty banter and humor. The show covers Sinatra's entire musical cannon from the classic ballads of the 40's to the saloon and torch songs, the 50's and 60's swingers and the all time hits.
