San Francisco Ballet Announces 2017-18 Season Company Members

San Francisco Ballet announces ten promotions, eight new Company members, and six apprentices for the 2017-18 Season. Soloist Jennifer Stahl has been promoted to principal dancer, and Isabella DeVivo, Jahna Frantziskonis, Esteban Hernandez, and Steven Morse have been promoted to soloist. In addition, SF Ballet Apprentices Alexandre Cagnat, Shene Lazarus, Davide Occhipinti, Nathaniel Remez, and Isabella Walsh have been promoted to the corps de ballet. Ulrik Birkkjaer and Ana Sophia Scheller join the Company as principal dancers and Solomon Golding, Gabriela Gonzalez, Blake Johnston, Madison Keesler, Wona Park, and Joseph Warton have joined SF Ballet as corps de ballet members. Ethan Chudnow, Anatalia Hordov, Carmela Mayo, Swane Messaoudi, Larisa Nugent, and Benjamin Pearson of San Francisco Ballet School have been promoted to the rank of apprentice.

Some of Orlando's Best Talent Prepares for Dragonfly Studio & Productions' 'LIVE OUT LOUD - Simply Me' Concert 6/6

In preparation for Dragonfly Studio & Productions' premiere concert, 'LIVE OUT LOUD - Simply Me,' many of Orlando's best musical theatre talents have been rehearsing with award-winning musical theatre composer, Elaine Pechacek. The concert will celebrate the merger of Pechacek's Music from the Heart home studio and production company, the Squeaky Wheel Theatre Project, with highlights from her career as a composer. The concert will take place on 'Tonys' Eve,' Saturday, June 10th at 7:30pm.

Rec Room Arts presents Modern Adaptation of Iconic Ballet, THE RITE OF SPRING

Rec Room Arts (Artistic Director, Matt Hune; Executive Director, Stephanie Wittels Wachs) announces the cast and creative team for THE RITE OF SPRING. The production previews Wednesday, June 14th, opens on Thursday, June 15th, and runs through Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the 600 sq. ft. Back Room at Rec Room.

Lookingglass Theatre presents the Return of MOBY DICK

Lookingglass Theatre Company concludes its 29th Season with its award-winning production of Moby Dick, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin, from the book by Herman Melville, in association with The Actors Gymnasium. Moby Dick runs June 7 - September 3, 2017 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Musica Viva NY Announces 40th Anniversary Season

Musica Viva NY-a chamber choir under the artistic direction of Dr. Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez-celebrates its 40th anniversary throughout the 2017-18 season, continuing its commitment to performing beloved as well as rarely heard works from various periods of musical history and from diverse cultures worldwide together with the Aeolus Quartet, quartet in residence. Highlights of the season include Orff's Carmina Burana, a concert featuring pianist and composer Seymour Bernstein, an appearance by Musica Viva NY's founder Walter Klauss, a performance commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. featuring Alice Parker; and the world premiere of a work by Elena Ruehr, commissioned by Musica Viva NY. All performances take place at All Souls Church (80th Street and Lexington Avenue).

Roger's Oslo, produced by Lincoln Center Theater, shared the Obie Awards for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $500 prize each. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel received a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street).
