UNCLE PHILLIP'S COAT Stars Gene Weygandt at Greenhouse Theater Center

The Chicago Premiere of playwright Matty Selman's "Uncle Philip's Coat" will run at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Ave) Nov. 27 - Dec. 31. Directed by Elizabeth Margoliusand starring Gene Weygandt (best known as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in "Wicked" in Chicago and on Broadway), "Uncle Philip's Coat" follows Matty on his humorous and heartfelt journey of personal discovery, sparked by his inheritance of a tattered coat from his eccentric Russian-Jewish immigrant uncle Philip.

HB Studio, one of New York's most venerable institutions for theater training and practice, is shaking things up this year for their annual benefit. This year HB Studio is bringing attention back to its roots, and back to the process of making great theater. Instead of one big benefit bash honoring esteemed alumni and colleagues (such as Fritz Weaver, Austin Pendleton, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Eric Bentley and David Hyde Pierce, Amanda Peet and Lee Grant, Tony Walton and Katie Finneran, Alfred Molina), HB will be hosting a series of intimate benefit performances featuring notable HB alumni and friends, exclusively produced in the HB Playwrights Theater. Theater For the New City has announced that it will present the world premiere of THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT, a new play by Walter Corwin that spotlights the wrongdoings against women since the Garden of Eden through the present day and suggests the problems a woman president could face, running tonight, November 2nd, through 13th in the Cabaret at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets).

Theater For the New City has announced that it will present the world premiere of THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT, a new play that spotlights the wrong doings against women since the Garden of Eden through the near future, March 23 - April 3 in the Cabaret at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th Streets). Written by Walter Corwin and directed by Daniel Kelley (long-time veteran of the TNC) with music by Arthur Abrams, the production will have its official opening on March 30th at 8:00PM.
