Tina Brown, Diane von Furstenberg and Pamela Thomas-Graham celebrated Broadway director Stephen Daldry at Barbetta Restaurant (321 West 46th Street) today, May 28th. Daldry has just been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Direction in a Play for SKYLIGHT, starring Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan. On TONY Awards Sunday (June 7), CUNY TV will present 8 hours of interviews related to this year's nominated musicals, plays, and individuals - from 12 noon right up till Tony time (8 p.m. on CBS). Included in the mix is the premiere at 7 p.m. of an all-new episode of THEATER TALK, Critics Review the Broadway Season, with Ben Brantley of The New York Times, Peter Marks of The Washington Post, John Simon of the Westchester Guardian, and Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier this month, Broadway's best gathered at the Marriott Marquis to celebrate the 81st Annual Drama League Awards. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was nominated for his performance in Hamilton, decided to rap his acceptance speech, which was focused around who else, but the incomparable Helen Mirren! Check it out below.

A star-studded countdown to the 69th Annual Tony Awards® ceremony begins on CUNY TV with the all-new special, 2015 TONY AWARDS PREVIEW, co-hosted by entertainment reporter Pat Collins and four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein.  Collins and Fierstein team up at Sardi's in Times Square, and introduce segments consisting of clips and interviews in all of the leading categories, including Best Play, Best Musical and Best Revivals.  With exclusive interviews totaling 28 Tony nominees, the special debuts Friday, May 29 (2015) on CUNY TV* at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm; is repeated Sunday 5/31 at noon and Friday 6/5 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm, and returns as part of a multi-show Tony Marathon on Sunday, June 7, leading right up to the Tony Awards telecast.  Beginning May 29, the program also may be viewed anytime on www.cuny.tv. 

On June 1 from 6-8 pm, The Shakespeare Society will host their third annual Playing Shakespeare Celebration at The Players (16 Gramercy Park South).

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of HEISENBERG, the new play by two-time Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Punk Rock), directed by Drama Desk Award winner Mark Brokaw (The Lyons, How I Learned to Drive), starring Denis Arndt (The Night Alive at Geffen Playhouse, 'The Practice') and Tony & Emmy Award winner Mary-Louise Parker (Proof, 'Weeds'), will play a strictly limited 6-week engagement beginning tonight, May 19, and opening Wednesday, June 3 as part of MTC's 2014-2015 season of The Studio at Stage II -- Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center.
