Public Theater Announces Native Theater Festival 11/12

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) is proud to announce the return of the Native Theater Festival, a four day festival dedicated to presenting extraordinary theatrical work by Native theater artists from the U.S. and Canada. Now in its second year, the Native Theater Festival will run November 12 to November 15 at The Public Theater and will feature three free readings of new works by Native playwrights followed by post-show discussions; a concert by Native and African-American singer Martha Redbone; topical field discussions on issues of particular concern to artists in the Native theater community; and a conversation with Oskar Eustis and other artists on politics and performance that will be open to the general public.

4th Wall Theatre To Present 'Dessa Rose'

4th Wall Theatre, a non union professional theatre in Bloomfield, NJ is presenting the New Jersey premier of 'Dessa Rose' which had its New York premier in 2005 at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre. The show will be directed by 4th Wall Artistic Director, Gregory G. Allen. 'We are thrilled to present this hard-hitting musical and to have Greg Allen at the helm' says 4th Wall Executive Director, Gwen Ricks-Spencer.

Negron's 'Satellites' To Have MN Tryout Before Barrow

Taylor Negron's real-life comedic stories about living as a D-list celebrity in Hollywood combine to create Satellites, a night of hilarious and inspirational spoken-word fusion, set to original music by former Minnesota-based singer/songwriter Logan Heftel. Before heading to New York 's Barrow Street Theater in October to begin an open ended run, Satellites returns to Heftel's roots, bringing two intimate performances to Bryant Lake Bowl.

Urban Stages Announces Season Closer '27 Rue de Fleurus'

Urban Stages is pleased to announce the final production of their 2007/2008 season: 27 Rue de Fleurus, a new musical derived from the imagination of Alice B. Toklas. Alice tries to set the record straight about being Gertrude Stein's 'wife' for nearly 40 years. 27 Rue de Fleurus will be directed by Urban Stages Artistic Director Frances Hill. Performances will be at 259 West 30th Street (between 7th and 8th). Previews will begin on Saturday, March 1st with the opening date scheduled for Thursday, March 6th and will run through Sunday, April 6th.
