The Movement Theatre Company (TMTC) in association with Radical Evolution announces their newest production, Look Upon Our Lowliness, a spoken word elegy for a chorus of male voices, which brings forth untold stories of the LGBTQ community of color in New York City.

The Movement Theatre Company, in association with Radical Evolution, presents LOOK UPON OUR LOWLINESS, a new play written by GLAAD media award winner Harrison David Rivers and directed by David Mendizabal.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will continue its popular Spotlight Series of free staged readings of new plays by The Public's Emerging Writers Group, beginning on Wednesday, March 27 and running through Monday, April 29. Now in its fifth year, the Emerging Writers Group is an important part of The Public's commitment and long legacy of supporting current and future generations of our country's most important writers.

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 21st season with the World Premiere of OUR PRACTICAL HEAVEN from acclaimed playwright Anthony Clarvoe (Pick Up Ax, Show and Tell, Ambition Facing West). This family drama, which originated as one of Aurora Theatre Company's Global Age Project (GAP) finalists in 2011, is the third main stage production to develop from the GAP. OUR PRACTICAL HEAVEN plays tonight, January 25 through March 3 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company, along with GAP Producer M. Graham Smith and GAP Associate Producer Deborah Taylor, announces the four plays chosen as finalists by a committee of local directors for the eighth annual Global Age Project (GAP), the company's new works initiative that promotes the creation of forward-looking theater. The selected GAP plays will be presented as staged readings in a four-week festival at the Aurora Theatre, Mondays, February 4-25 at 7:30PM.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced this week that Chicago's About Face Theatre is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. About Face is recommended for a $20,000 grant to support a year-long exploration of the queer experience as seen through the eyes of LGBTQ men of color.

The Drama League presents the 29th Annual DirectorFest, a festival of one-act plays staged by the Fall Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project, beginning December 6 - 9 at The Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th street (at 8th Avenue). This year's program is entitled 10 YEARS/10 DREAMS, featuring 10 ten-minute plays inspired by William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
