PBS Announces Black History Month Special Programming

In celebration of Black History Month and as part of its year-round commitment to diverse programming, PBS today announced an on-air lineup commemorating the contributions of African Americans in music, dance, television and civil rights, providing an in-depth look at key figures and events that shaped black - and American - history.

Working Theater Presents THE BEST OF THEATERWORKS: STORIES FROM THE 99%, Now thru 6/17

Working Theater presents the Off-Broadway production of The Best of TheaterWorks!: Stories from the 99%. The production will feature six of the best short plays to come out of Working Theater's TheaterWorks! program. The 10-year old program teaches working men and women (bus drivers, doormen, 911 operators, DMV workers etc.) to write and perform their own short plays about their experiences at work. The classes end with a stage reading style performance where the students are teamed with professional actors and directors. This production however will be fully realized by a professional cast and crew.

HISTORY LIT 2012 Set for Pasadena Museum of History, Now thru 5/20

The creators of Wicked Lit present History Lit 2012, an immersive theatre event featuring three short plays based on the work of great women authors of the 19th and 20th Centuries. HISTORY LIT 2012 will take place today, May 11th through May 20th at the Pasadena Museum of History. Audience members can follow actors throughout the Fenyes Estate and enjoy new adaptations of short stories that reflect history in creative ways.

Unbound Productions Announces HISTORY LIT Cast, to Play 5/11-20

Unbound Productions Co-Artistic Directors Jonathan Josephson, Paul Millet, and Jeff G. Rack have announced a new project in the same vein of the popular Wicked Lit theatre series - HISTORY LIT (May 11-20, 2012). Whereas Wicked Lit focused on the creation and production of new works of theatre inspired by classic horror stories, HISTORY LIT will present stage adaptations of literature that reflect history in creative ways. Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 203rd season with an all-new production of Broadway's Tony Award-winning family musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. Directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, this production will feature Broadway's leading lady Rachel York and Mel Sagrado Maghuyop from the Walnut's production of Miss Saigon. THE KING AND It opens on November 16th and runs through January 8th on the WST Mainstage.

Opera Exposures to Present The Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield Story 2/6
