A Broadway Baker's Dozen of great talents will take The Town Hall stage by storm on Monday, April 7 at 8pm when Broadway by the Year salutes 1954. Songs from famous shows like The Pajama Game, Peter Pan, The Boy Friend, and Fanny will be featured in this critically acclaimed concert series that is now in its 8th Season.

Beginning Tuesday evening, March 25, Kim Stengel, the actress who has played the role of the outrageous opera diva 'Carlotta' in The Phantom of the Opera more than any other actress worldwide, will join the Broadway production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, directed by Harold Prince, at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street). This will mark Ms. Stengel's Broadway debut.

Sierra Boggess and Sean Palmer, the stars of Disney's The Little Mermaid will make their Town Hall debuts with The Broadway Musicals of 1954 on Monday, April 7 at 8 pm.

Producer-director Harold Prince has won an unprecedented 20 Tony Awards throughout his career. In 1994, one of those was for his ground breaking revival of the classical musical SHOWBOAT. During rehearsals for that production, Broadway Beat caught him for a rare moment.

1959 was a heck of a good year for Broadway overtures.  The majestic trumpet fanfare and lowdown bump and grind of Gypsy's is generally regarded as the best in musical theatre, but there was also the rousingly rhythmic curtain-raiser to Fiorello! and, my personal favorite, Philip J. Lang's beautiful interpretation of Bob Merrill's music for Take Me Along, which touches on so many moods of the show while continually building the toe-tapping climax of The catchy title tune.
