Palo Alto Payers, the Peninsula's first theatre company, presents CHICAGO, a brilliant musical satire that brings you the razzledazzle music of vaudeville, showstopping dance numbers - and all that jazz! Written by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, CHICAGO is the winner of six Tony Awards. Broadway performer and BackStage Bistro Award-winning recording artist Rebecca Spencer will celebrate her Palm Springs concert debut with a performance on Sunday, August 9 at 2:00pm, part of the Summer Series at the Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert, CA. Unique arrangements that fuse both classical etudes as well as contemporary expressions of the art song, with the romantic American Songbook, Broadway, film and popular music, have become Rebecca's signature. Working with her long-time collaborator, virtuoso pianist Philip Fortenberry, their musical symmetry has been hailed by critics across the country, and heralded in BackStage as "collaboration at its finest".

Today in 1974, A Little Night Music closed at the Shubert Theatre, where it ran for 601 performances. A Little Night Music is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. Since its original 1973 Broadway production, the musical has enjoyed professional productions in the West End, by opera companies, in a 2009 Broadway revival, and elsewhere, and it is a popular choice for regional groups. It was adapted for film in 1977, with Harold Prince directing and Elizabeth Taylor, Len Cariou, Lesley-Anne Down and Diana Rigg starring.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts' 2015 - 2016 Spotlight Series opens with the sidesplitting savagery known as Forbidden Broadway October 1 - 4, 2015. There will be just four performances of a special adaptation of their recent hit edition, Forbidden Broadway Alive and Kicking! The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present members from the Broadway cast of The Phantom of the Opera, who celebrated the songs written by their composer, Andrew Lloyd Webber, in concert on Sunday, July 12 at 6pm. This sold-out smash hit was the first in a series of many tribute concerts by the cast of the record-breaking musical, and will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
