Hans Ulrich Obrist's First U.S. Marathon Announces Participant List

Chicago Humanities Festival, in partnership with The Terra Foundation for American Art, EXPO CHICAGO and Navy Pier today announced the initial list of participants for Creative Chicago: An Interview Marathon, led by one of the world's most influential curators and critics Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of London's Serpentine Galleries. Known for his dynamic, long-form interview sessions, the five-hour interview marathon will be comprised of back-to-back conversations with prominent Chicago innovators from a variety of creative fields.
Navy Pier and EXPO CHICAGO Welcome Ivan Navarro's 'This Land is Your Land'

Navy Pier, Chicago's iconic lakefront destination, has partnered with EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Modern & Contemporary Art (September 27 - 30, 2018), to present a free, temporary public art installation in Polk Bros Park. From Saturday, July 28, 2018 through April 30, 2019, guests will have the unique opportunity to view and interact with This Land is Your Land, a stunning three-piece installation resembling water towers, created by New York-based Chilean artist Ivan Navarro and curated by Paul Kasmin Gallery.
Sondra Perry's First Major U.S. Museum Exhibition Opens at ICA Miami

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) will present the country's first solo exhibition by rising American artist Sondra Perry. Featuring work recently shown at Serpentine Gallery in London in a completely new exhibition design for ICA Miami, Typhoon Coming On explores Perry's use of video, media, installation and performance to create powerful narratives that explore the intersection of black identity, digital culture and power. The exhibition is set to open this summer at ICA Miami on July 13.

The Shed's Artistic Director and CEO Alex Poots today unveiled the first group of commissions for the 2019 inaugural season in its future home on Manhattan's west side, and provided major updates about the organization's leadership, program, and capital campaign. New York City's first arts center dedicated to commissioning, producing, and presenting new work across the performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture, The Shed will open to the public in spring 2019 with commissioned programs filling its iconic and expansive multi-use hall, two floors of column-free galleries, and versatile and intimate theater.

Dallas Museum of Art Looks at The Art of Film Through Fresh Eyes

On October 22, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) presents the first major exhibition in the Museum's history dedicated to time-based media. Truth: 24 frames per second brings together 24 pioneers of film and video and over six decades of work focused on pressing contemporary themes, such as race relations, political unrest, sexual identity and the media, to explore the nature of truth and reality in contemporary life.

Five theatre directors are slated for the fifth Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat, which convenes in Arles, France, August 25 through September 7. The Retreat is one of 24 residencies and Labs the Institute hosts annually across the world, and is an integral part of the Theatre Program's ongoing engagement with global theatremakers.

The last day to see Take Me (I'm Yours) - the unique, participatory exhibition on view at the Jewish Museum that allows visitors to touch and take home the works of art on view - is on Sunday, February 5, 2017. On the final day, Daniel Spoerri's sculpture, Eat Art Happening, a skeleton made entirely of sugar paste, will be available for consumption by museum visitors.

This fall, the Jewish Museum will upend museum conventions with Take Me (I'm Yours), an exhibition featuring artworks that visitors are asked to touch, participate in, and even take home. On view from September 16, 2016 through February 5, 2017, Take Me (I'm Yours) will feature 40 international and intergenerational artists, many of whom are creating new and site-specific works for the exhibition. Selected artists include Uri Aran, Christian Boltanski, Andrea Bowers, Andrea Fraser, General Sisters, Gilbert & George, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Jonathan Horowitz, Alison Knowles, Daniel Joseph Martinez, Jonas Mekas, Yoko Ono, Rachel Rose, Martha Rosler, Tino Sehgal, Haim Steinbach, Amalia Ulman, and Lawrence Weiner, among others.

Dominique Le?vy is pleased to announce its first New York solo exhibition by celebrated Italian artist Enrico Castellani (b. 1930, Castelmassa), with whom the gallery has worked since its inception in 2012. Opening April 7, 2016, Enrico Castellani: Interior Space brings together recent as well as historical works by the artist, many of which are presented in New York for the first time. Exploring the ways in which painting can occupy three-dimensional space, Castellani's art presents a complete amalgamation of form and concept: in the artist's words, a “total interior space, lacking contradictions.”
