Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival have officially merged under the producing umbrella of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse. The Playhouse is the parent organization, building on its reputation in the community and theater industry. The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse now comprises Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival.

In eerie fashion, almost as a sign from the long gone masters of the genre, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams Sr. himself, Moore's label Sol Records has released this epic 12 song cd seemingly in response to pop country artist Blake Shelton's recent statement that folks who perform and /or listen to classic country music are “old farts and jackasses.”

To continue to celebrate the release of her sophomore album Cigarettes & Truckstops, acclaimed Nashville-based artist Lindi Ortega is set to embark on a nationwide solo tour in 2013. Wayside Theatre Artistic Director, Warner Crocker, announced the cast and schedule for Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming, the sequel to one of last season's most popular productions. Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming was written by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Bailey, and has musical arrangements by Mike Craver.

La Jolla Playhouse announces a new play development initiative, the DNA New Work Series, entailing a six-week period of workshop productions and public readings of new plays and musicals, taking place today, January 24 through March 3, 2013. The focus of the DNA New Work Series is to allow playwrights and directors the opportunity to develop a script by providing rehearsal time, space and resources, culminating in a workshop production or public reading.

Acclaimed Nashville-based singer-songwriter Holly Williams is ready to take to The Highway in support of her self-released third studio album due February 5 on her own imprint, Georgiana Records. Kicking off the first leg of her U.S. tour at New York's Joe's Pub on January 24, Williams will also play Hotel Café in Los Angeles on February 6 and the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville on February 12.

The acclaimed Swedish singer-songwriter Elin Ruth released her Bang EP this week (11/27). The four song EP precedes her full length, eponymous US debut which comes out on January 29, 2013.
