La Jolla Playhouse announces a new play development initiative, the DNA New Work Series, entailing a six-week period of workshop productions and public readings of new plays and musicals, taking place today, January 24 through March 3, 2013. The focus of the DNA New Work Series is to allow playwrights and directors the opportunity to develop a script by providing rehearsal time, space and resources, culminating in a workshop production or public reading.

Hosted by Tish and Snooky of Manic Panic, this benefit extravaganza will also showcase the talents of Blue Coupe, Joe Hurley, Eddie Brill (current warm-up comedian for The David Letterman Show), Michael Musto, Murray Weinstock, and other surprise appearances.

Tonight, Tony Bennett will join his good pal Alec Baldwin on the Emmy winning, fan-favorite 30 Rock. Details are all very top secret -- so you'll have to tune in to find out how Tony will be incorporated into this week's installment. The inaugural season of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival was a success, according to Festival organizers. The Festival, held in Auburn, N.Y., included nine musicals and played a significant role in shaping 20 new musicals during the 2012 season. Downtown Auburn also saw a boost in activity as patrons visited restaurants and spent time in the city.
