BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that stage and screen actor Hal Holbrook has died at 95 years old.

Featuring new performers with every show, Piano Bar Live! A Night at Rose's Turn, Part 3, streams tomorrow Tuesday, December 22nd at 7:15 pm ET, with hosts Scott Barbarino and Mark Alan celebrating the now iconic club, Roses Turn.

Last night's episode of Saturday Night Live featured a venue that fans of the New York City cabaret scene may recognize! One sketch on the weekly comedy show was set at The Duplex, the iconic West Village cabaret, piano bar, and cafe.

Playwright Eduardo Machado will join HB Studio this fall to teach a virtual playwriting class, 'Playwriting: Development & Dialogue', that is open to interested playwrights of all levels. The class will be held over Zoom on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT, Sep. 19-Nov. 21, 2020.

Based on health concerns of all involved during this ongoing pandemic and mandated restrictions for public gatherings, the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts is postponing/rescheduling the entire Summer 2020 season.  

AMC Studios announced today that it has entered into separate exclusive, multi-year overall deals with Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights, Weeds), Gina Mingacci (Killing Eve, Orphan Black) and Ray McKinnon (Rectify, Deadwood) to develop and produce new series for AMC Networks' Entertainment Group as well as other content companies. The deals expand AMC Networks' ongoing or previous creative partnerships with Jones, Mingacci and McKinnon.

BroadwayWorld recently caught up with Bay Area theater mainstay Dan Hiatt while he was in the midst of rehearsals for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's new musical a?oeMark Twain's River of Songa?? in which he plays the title role.  Mr. Hiatt discussed his process for finding the character of Twain, and also shared some insights from his remarkably rich career, having worked with most every high-profile theater company in the Bay Area over the past 25 years.

NYC singer/comedian John Burns will return to historic Duplex Cabaret Theatre with an encore performance of his popular show John Burns is a Sexy Beast, first presented for three sold-out dates during WorldPride & Stonewall 50 this past June. Directed by 15-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) award-winner Lennie Watts, the special 'Tea Dance' performance will be held on Sunday, October 13, at 4pm.
