Laura Benanti - the Tony Award-winning actress and singer, also known for her TV roles on 'Go On,' 'The Playboy Club' and 'Law & Order: SVU' - will follow the recent release of her debut album, In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention with a slate of projects through the next year.

Mama Rose, Baby June, and plain, gawky Louise (but just wait!) hit the boards as the ever-popular musical Gypsy becomes the second production of the Novato Theater Company's 2013-2014 season in its charming new theater. The Arthur Laurents-Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical features songs like 'Let Me Entertain You,' 'You Gotta Have a Gimmick,' and of course, 'Everything's Coming up Roses.'

Famed female impersonator Randy Roberts returns to San Francisco by popular demand with two not-to-be-missed shows in two different venues. Beginning with a limited engagement of only 12 performances of Randy's signature show RANDY ROBERTS LIVE! at the Alcove Theatre - 414 Mason St. (at Geary St.), 5th Floor, in SF 94102 - Oct. 10 - Nov. 2, 2013 (Thurs. Fri. & Sat. - 9:00 pm).

While stage mothers are more popular than ever thanks to television reality shows like "Dance Moms" and "Toddlers and Tiaras," they cannot compare to the ultimate stage mother from a century ago. She was Rose Elizabeth Thompson Hovick, mother of two famous performing daughters: burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee and actress June Havoc. Their lives were brought to life in one of musical theater's crowning achievements, Gypsy, which first premiered on Broadway in 1959. Based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, this gripping and entertaining, Tony Award-winning musical, featuring a score of classics, including "Let Me Entertain You," and "Everything's Coming Up Roses," now makes its way to the stage of the Grand Theatre located at 405 S. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ, October 24 - November 9 (Thursdays at 7pm; Friday and Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 2pm). One of musical theatre's most distinguished achievements, Gypsy, begins a three week run at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre on Friday, August 30. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm and continue through Sunday, September 15.

Laura Benanti and Cheyenne Jackson will join the previously announced Shuler Hensley in the New York City Center Encores! production of Frank Loesser's Musical The Most Happy Fella, running for seven performances April 2 - 6, 2014. The Most Happy Fella will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with music direction by Rob Berman

According to the Chicago Tribune, Broadway veteran Louise Pitre will lead GYPSY when it plays Chicago Shakespeare Theatre next year. Directed by Gary Griffin, the production will run at Chicago Shakespeare's Courtyard Theater, February 6- March 23.

Hershey Area Playhouse announces an update and its directors for the 2014 season. The theatre was originally scheduled to open the season with the musical The Fantasticks, but due to a national tour now coming through the area at the same, the rights are no longer available. Instead, the Playhouse artistic committee is excited to feature the musical comedy, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

'Sing out, Louise!!'. This phrase has been part of theatre lexicon for more than 50 years. Almost having become an inside joke, and used by directors, choreographers and actors to coax performers into giving it their all. Throughout GYPSY's storied history, it has been produced numerous times across this country; the 'greatest American musical' is also often referred to as a 'perfect' musical. And Maine State Music Theatre's current production of GYPSY is just that: perfect.
