Director Mike Stubbs mixes veteran talent and new discoveries to showcase a story of women's friendships and failings

Is it finally Rose's turn? Stage and screen legend Barbra Streisand's husband, actor James Brolin, just spoke to Extra about the likelihood of his wife's film remake of GYPSY getting the go-ahead.

Due to an unexpected emergency with the director, auditions for GYPSY for youth ages thirteen and below have been changed to 4:00pm instead of the previously announced 2:00pm on Sunday, August 30th.

While August is quickly winding down, much of the country is still engulfed in an oppressive summer heat. Whether or not it's global warming (it's global warming), there is no escaping the Dog Days of Summer. Sound Theatre Company contributes to the hot Northwest summer with the steamy, smart Seattle premiere of Indian Ink by Tom Stoppard. This passionate tale that explores art and colonialism, set on two continents and in two eras, is a co-production with South Asian cultural organization Pratidhwani, and is directed by Andrew McGinn.

Due to popular demand, Scottsdale Musical Theater Company is adding a performance of their upcoming production of Gypsy on Saturday, August 22 @ 2PM. Scottsdale Musical Theater Company welcomes long time valley theater veterans Debra Qualtire as 'Mama Rose' and Zoni Award winner Terry Gadaire as 'Herbie' with the title role of 'Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee' played by Sarah Cassidy. The show will be directed and choreographed by David Hock, with Kevin Hayward as musical director/conductor of our 20+ piece orchestra. Performances dates/times: August 20, 21, 22 @ 7:30PM and August 22 and 23 @ 2:00PM Performances will take place at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. In 1959 Ethel Merman, the prominent musical theatre actress of her time, and David Merrick were searching for their next project. After reading an excerpt from the memoir by Gypsy Rose Lee, Merrick felt they had said project and GYPSY was born.
