Last Thursday when I heard about this week's theme, 'I'm with the Band,' I have to admit that I just didn't get it. However, now that I've seen how the IDOL Powers-That-Be implemented it on stage, I still really don't get it. The contestants sing with Ricky Minor and his band every week, however, to switch it up, this week the finalists will be singing with Ricky Minor and his band ON STAGE.

After a long absence from the music scene, Missing Persons featuring original vocalist Dale Bozzio will return to the Southern California stage for two special concerts at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach on January 10 and at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on January 19. Such memorable hits as "Words," "Destination Unknown," and "Walking In L.A." made Missing Persons a household name in the '80s and a staple of early MTV thanks in part to the cutting edge fashion statements of Bozzio. With her unforgettable pink streaked hair, fishbowl bra and bubblewrap jacket, Bozzio would become an iconic figure of rock fashion, the original glam diva, inspiring the likes of Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Lady GaGa, and others! Her vocal style too became a unique signifier of the band's music, and her voice remains as strong today as it was then!

For a legendary, platinum-selling Two Tone band, The Selecter doesn't really get the attention it deserves. The British ska-revival band formed in the late '70s and released a number of really great tracks, including tracks like “Too Much Pressure” and “On My Radio.” Notable also for being fronted by both a man—Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson—and a woman—Pauline Black—The Selecter has influenced everyone from Gwen Stefani to John Lennon.

It's no secret the young star has undergone a major image overhaul and been experimenting with her style lately. She's done just about everything she can to distance herself from her squeaky clean Disney days and seems to have taken inspiration for her personal style from Pink and Gwen Stefani circa 1999. I am all for changing it up and pushing the boundaries, but I don't usually love her choices. But this look works!
