On Friday, March 22 ONE DROP partnered with MGM Resorts International and Lamborghini to present One Night for ONE DROP, a global philanthropy event to raise funds and awareness to ensure water is accessible across the globe. This was the first time all seven Cirque du Soleil resident productions closed their doors to become one for ONE DROP - the non-profit organization established by Cirque du Soleil Founder Guy Laliberte - at the 'O' Theatre at Bellagio Resort & Casino. More than 230 Cirque du Soleil artists and guest performers combined their extraordinary talents to create a 'one-night-only' original, full-scale performance on March 22 in Las Vegas. Last night, June 29, Cirque du Soleil opened its major new acrobatic spectacle, Zarkana, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Performances began Thursday, June 9, 2011 for a limited engagement through October 8, 2011. The Santa Monica engagement of Kooza marks a homecoming for the Quebec-based international performance company, which made its U.S. debut in 1987 and had a successful performance run at the venerable Pier the same year. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Cirque du Soleil will present Kooza under the blue and yellow Grand Chapiteau (big top) at the Santa Monica Pier from October 16 through December 20.

Cirque du Soleil's newest show Kooza, now playing in Denver, Colorado, will open at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles on October 16 for a limited run until November 29 in the familiar blue and yellow big top. Derived from the Sanskrit word 'koza' which means 'box' or 'treasure', Kooza was chosen as the title to fulfill the concept 'circus in a box'. Melanie Lalande, the new US artistic director of Kooza, a former dance instructor in the DC area, told me more about this intriguing production.

CRISS ANGEL Believe starring Criss Angel will hold its Gala Premiere September 12, 2008, with preview performances beginning September 1, 2008.
