The Guthrie Theater today announced that Sarah Agnew (currently appearing as Beatrice in Yale Rep's production of The Servant of Two Masters) will lead the cast of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, playing Nora in a modern-day critique of middle-class life in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's groundbreaking and controversial masterpiece A Doll's House (previously seen at the Guthrie in 1996).

Next Theatre Company and Artistic Director Jason Southerland are thrilled to announce the 30th anniversary season, a year dedicated to plays that explore the myths that men and women create about their lives. The season opens in the fall with a world premiere presented at the National New Play Network's annual showcase. It continues with the regional premiere of a play Southerland first read when he met with Israeli playwright Motti Lerner (Pangs of the Messiah) in Tel Aviv earlier this year. Two-time Academy Award-winner Albert Wolsky will receive the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.
Romeo and Juliet is a classic that still rings true due to its commentaries on passion, violence, true love, regret, revenge, hatred, societal expectations, and fate. These themes brought to life by Shakespeare's beautiful language continue to ring true for theatergoers today. While all enter the theatre knowing the outcome, there's something for everyone to relate to here from crazy friends, overprotective/concerned parents, to first loves and everything in between. The greatest tragedy is found in the older generation's inability to put aside their feud, which is the cause of their children's untimely ends. The Acting Company/Guthrie Theatre Production of Romeo and Juliet features wonderful performances and interesting direction which together perfectly compliment the truth of Romeo's words, 'Here's much to do with hate, but more with love.'
