Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil embark on their second season, one which features a greatly expanded presence for Dudamel in Los Angeles, with twelve weeks of subscription concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall. During the 2010/11 season the LA Phil will present a vast spectrum of imaginative concerts, welcoming back old friends while continuing the tradition of introducing rising artists and composers.

Ten Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts from the current Hollywood Bowl Summer 2010 season, including three led by Gustavo Dudamel - his first Bowl subscription concerts as Music Director - will be broadcast on Classical KUSC beginning Saturday, August 7th. This is the fourth year of the orchestra's summer partnership with Los Angeles' listener-sponsored classical music radio station.

LA Philharmonic Announces Recipients of Dudamel Fellowship 2010/11

Beginning with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2010/11 season, four conductors will participate in the Dudamel Fellowship Program. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program (in 2009) to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education and community programs.

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel returns to the Hollywood Bowl- the place where he made his U.S. conducting debut in 2005 and led the free ¡Bienvenido Gustavo! community concert in October 2009 - to make his U.S. opera debut and lead the LA Phil in his first summer season subscription concerts at the iconic venue. On August 1, he leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a performance of Bizet's Carmen, which he specifically chose for his first operatic performance in the United States. For his first Bowl subscription concert as Music Director, Dudamel leads the LA Phil and Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero in a program which includes Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris, as well as Three Dance Episodes from Bernstein's On the Town and Symphonic Dances from Bernstein's West Side Story (August 3). Dudamel continues his week at the Bowl with an international program of music from the Americas with soloist Isabel Leonard: Bernstein's Divertimento, Villa-Lobos: 'The Little Train of the Caipira' from Bachianas Brasileras No. 2, Falla's Three-Cornered Hat Suite No. 2, Falla's Seven Popular Spanish Songs and Ravel's Bolero (August 5).
