Billy Elliot the Musical had their second anniversary on Broadway Saturday, November 13, 2010. The Broadway company celebrated turning two with a party and caricatures unveiling at Tony's DiNapoli this Tuesday, November 16.

Kyle Dean Massey (Gabe in Broadway's Next to Normal) spent Sunday, November 14th, mentoring the young talent of Broadway's future as he led a Pop/Rock and Next to Normal-themed master class with Broadway Artists Alliance. Kyle Dean skillfully guided a master class in 'Song Interpretation' to a group of eager and talented young performers ages 10 to 21. Kyle Dean's morning class was followed by an advanced audition technique workshop with a top representative from Telsey and Co. casting agency.

This week, top theatrical talent paid tribute to playwright Lynn Nottage, recipient of the 2010 ‘Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award', presented by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust. Scenes highlighting Ms. Nottage's work (including Ruined, Intimate Apparel and a preview of her upcoming By The Way, Meet Vera Stark) were performed by actors Quincy Tyler Bernstine (In the Next Room), two-time Tony Award-winner and Oscar-nominee Viola Davis (Fences, King Hedley II), Kimberly Hébert Gregory (The Brother/Sister Plays), Russell Hornsby (Intimate Apparel), Tony Award-winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story, In the Heights) and Condola Rashad (Ruined). Pop icon Deborah Cox headlined a star-studded cast featuring performances and presentations by Sandra Thurman, former AIDS Czar under President Bill Clinton and current President and CEO of International AIDS Trust, the cast of FELA!, Dancing With The Stars finalist and N'SYNC star Lance Bass, Tony Award winners Alice Ripley, Chuck Cooper, Melba Moore, and TV stars Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) and Ariana Grande (Nickelodeon's Victorious), for the third annual Broadway in South Africa (BSA) benefit concert last night, October 4. Nearly the entire show featured world-premiere songs, created for the evening, by such composers as Grammy Award winners Desmond Child and Julie Gold. This year's honoree was producer Michael Butler. He is one of the most successful theatrical producers, lauded for bringing HAIR to Broadway in 1968, and an active proponent of youth creating positive global social change.

The 24th Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS $476,917, beating the 2009 total of $403,929. This year's top booths were WICKED, Broadway Beat, TDF, American Idiot, The Phantom of the Opera, United Scenic Artists Local 829, Maddie's Corner, Next to Normal, The Addams Family, Triton Gallery and Billy Elliot!

Federer inspired, as she skillfully guided a master class in 'Song Interpretation' to a group of eager and talented young performers ages 10 to 21. Students also spent time on cold readings and scene study utilizing scenes from Wicked. Michelle's morning class was followed by an advanced audition technique workshop with a top casting representative from Telsey and Co. Casting.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment announced today that Peter Mazurowski will join the cast of the 10-time Tony Award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical, in the role of ‘Billy.' Joining him will be Neil McCaffrey and Gabriel Rush alternating in the role of ‘Michael.'

Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth delighted students as their special surprise guest during the Broadway Artists Alliance 2010 Summer Intensive (Session One). Ms. Neuwirth (currently starring in The Addams Family) lent her talents for a surprise Q&A with the students of Broadway Artists Alliance, ages 10-21. The Q&A was led by the hilarious Seth Rudetsky.
