New Musical '13 ALABAMA GHOSTS' Gets Reading in NYC

On Monday, March 27, 2017 at 5 p.m., Open Doors Productions & Theatricals will present an industry reading of 13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey, the Musical - a ghostly original Off-Broadway-bound musical that was originally built to be like the blockbuster musicals harking back to the days of Zeigfeld - with book by Alabama playwright and actor Don Everett Garrett and music by Kevin Francis Finn.

Tony Award-Winning Actor Ben Vereen Brings a Night of Career Highlights to The Ridgefield Playhouse on 5/21

 The Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series presents a night with the Legendary Tony Award-winning actor Ben Vereen on Sunday, May 21 at 8 p.m.  Ben Vereen's performances transcend time and are woven into the fabric of this country's artistic legacy. In this special evening, partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon and Spa,  you will take a whirlwind trip through Vereen's career and favorite songs - including numbers from Pippin (for which he won the Tony Award) and Jesus Christ Superstar, interspersed with loving and sometimes hilarious anecdotes about some of the Broadway greats he has worked with.  The night winds its way through various autobiographically-inspired segments.  Media sponsor for this special event is CPBN Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network.

The Le Petit Theatre to Celebrate 100 Years with Ted Louis Levy in JELLY'S LAST JAM

For the first time in New Orleans, Le Petit produces the Tony award-winning musical that tells the true story of Ferdinand Joseph LeMothe, a.k.a. Jelly Roll Morton. Born a Creole American in the Faubourg Marigny, Jelly Roll Morton took the music he found in the cribs of Storyville out into the wide world. He became a star in Harlem, Chicago, and Los Angeles, going so far as to proclaim himself as the 'creator of jazz.' Featuring explosive dance and an original score inspired by the best musical traditions of New Orleans, Jelly's Last Jam is the musical triumph that won't give you the blues.

Broadway's J.L. Williams to Open with RIVERDANCE Tonight in Fort Myers

Riverdance- the Anniversary Tour returns to the USA from January to June 2017. J.L. Williams rejoins the ongoing 20th Anniversary tour and will be featured for the first time as the "Baritone Soloist" who sings "Freedom/Heal Their Hearts" as well as reprising his role as one of two African American tap dancers with Tyler Knowlin in the showstopping number "Trading Taps". Williams made his Riverdance debut back in the fall of 2015 in Canada. He also played the northwest of America and a limited engagement in Dublin this past summer.

CHRP Raises $140,000, Awards Dorrance and Young with JUBA!

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), which fosters social reconciliation through American tap and contemporary percussive arts in world-class, innovative performance, education and outreach programs, hosted its 26th Jubalee Gala November 4 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago. Attended by nearly 250 people, the event raised more than $140,000 from a combination of ticket sales, sponsorships, a paddle raise, a raffle and contributions.

2016 Bessies to Honor Choreographer Brenda Bufalino with Lifetime Achievement Award

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announce legendary tap innovator and choreographer Brenda Bufalino as the recipient of the 2016 NY Dance and Performance Award for Lifetime Achievement in Dance; and The Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and Alex Smith, Executive Chairman of the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center, as this year's recipients of Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance.

BWW Review: CCN de la Rochelle / Cie Accrorap, Ayodele Casel, Hong Kong Ballet, & Bangarra Dance Theatre – Falling in Love for City Center's Dance Festival

On the fall evening of October 1, 2016, it was City Center's 'tis the autumn season for the Fall for Dance Festival event. Four dance companies were headlining at this midtown venue-CNN de la Rochelle / Cie Accrorap, Ayodele Casel, Hong Kong Ballet, and Bangarra Dance Theatre. Each company was like the plethora of delicious international restaurants of Manhattan-the flavors and spices were unique and delightful to the senses.
