Five months…  FIVE MONTHS after their previous musical comedy, Jumbo, opened at the Hippodrome, the trio of Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart and George Abbott had a brand new one at the Imperial.  But far from seeming a rush job, their 1936 On Your Toes can easily be argued to be a huge step forward in refining musical comedy into a sophisticated art form.

Acclaimed Tony Award winning Director/Choreographer Jerry Mitchell, whose musical Kinky Boots just received 13 Tony Award-nominations, will be honored with the 2013 'Mr. Abbott' Award for his outstanding artistry and creativity and breadth of his thirty-year career.

In light of KINKY BOOTS' 13 Tony nominations and the show's upcoming cast album release, it's only fitting that the musical's producers are looking beyond Broadway. According to the Daily Mail, Kinky Boots is eyeing the West End, though when the show will transfer across the pond is far from set.

The 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition raised a staggering $4,250,542 - eclipsing the previous high of $3,734,129 set in 2007. The grand total was announced Tuesday after six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 47 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots), two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Lucky Guy) and Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper (Kinky Boots) were on hand to announce the grand total at this year's Easter Bonnet Competition, which ended in two shows featuring original presentations, songs, dances and 19 intricate, custom-made bonnets. This year's Easter Bonnet Competition will be held today, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street.

The world premiere production of the new musical TUCK EVERLASTING, scheduled to play Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Emerson Colonial Theatre (106 Boylston Street) from July 28-August 18, 2013, has been postponed due to a lack of theatre availability for its planned subsequent production in New York. Future plans for the production will be announced at a later date.

Kinky Boots, from four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (book), Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics), Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Director & Choreographer), began preview performances on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) on March 3, 2013 and opens tonight, April 4, 2013.

The world premiere production of the new musical TUCK EVERLASTING will play at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Emerson Colonial Theatre (106 Boylston Street) from July 28-August 18, 2013.
