Photo Flash: First Look at The Art Institute of Chicago's Snap Gala

This year's Snap Gala, benefiting the Photography Gala Fund—the largest single source of acquisitions support for photography at the Art Institute—was a record-breaking success. On Saturday, October 19, guests were awed by the elegant, glowing centerpieces featuring vintage slides, as well as a curtain of slides hanging from the second floor balcony made by INDO (http://theindoprojects.com/). Attendees posed in sets of classic photographs from the Art Institute's acclaimed permanent collection during cocktail hour, as well as photo booths during dessert. Alexander Gilkes—Chief Auctioneer, Phillips and Founder, Paddle 8—ran a lively and theatrical auction that capped off the evening.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network Announces Premiere Dates for Upcoming Documentary Films

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today premiere dates for six films to be broadcast as part of the OWN Documentary Club. The films, airing monthly on Thursdays from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT, will round out the 2011 OWN Documentary Club film slate and launch into the new year beginning with 'Life 2.0' August 25, 'Most Valuable Players' September 8, 'Miss Representation' October 20, 'Crime After Crime' November 3, 'One Lucky Elephant' December 1 and 'Louder Than a Bomb' January 5, 2012. The announcement comes on the heals of the network's first OWN Documentary Club film 'Becoming Chaz' garnering three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Nonfiction Special, Directing and Picture Editing.
