Three roots music acts will take the stage when Park City Institute presents Parsonsfield, joined by Laney Jones and the Spirits, and Jeffrey Foucault, on August 12, at 7:00 PM. 

Park City Institute Executive Director Teri Orr, announced the addition of a roots music show to the 2017 St Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series at Deer Valley® Resort. Parsonsfield will headline the evening, joined by Laney Jones and the Spirits, and Jeffrey Foucault.

There are numerous echoes of Crazy Heart to be found on Jeff's new album, Jeff Bridges. It may mark a switch from the six-time Oscar nominee's usual day job, but the performances on Jeff Bridges consistently feel both comfortable and true. The album is a logical follow-up to Bridges' Academy Award-winning portrayal of grizzled former country music legend Bad Blake in the 2009 film Crazy Heart. 'This album is a natural extension of the love of music I've had all my life,' commented Bridges. 'Natural' is as good a word as any to describe the feeling of Bridges' self-titled major label debut. Featuring a roster of magnificent songwriters and musicians, and produced by Bridges' friend of three decades, Grammy-award winner T Bone Burnett, the ten-song disc is soulful and heartfelt.

The concert will include early Baroque masterworks by Heinrich Sch'tz and Johann Hermann Schein and a new piece commissioned by the MCE from Caleb Burhans'works that render the subjects of spirituality, grief and death in exquisite detail.

Music has always played the role of Muse for me as a stage director. Occasionally, when I am stuck creatively or wanting to be around the actors in the rehearsal room or need to assistance in focusing, I will play the same piece of music over and over. I have meditated on Dvorak when considering the relationship between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West in Vita & Virginia, on Bach's cello concertos when considering Julius Caesar, on Bartok when constructing A Midsummer Night's Dream, Zoe Keating for The Tempest, Rachmaninoff for Hamlet, and many others.
