BWW Reviews: Theater Latte Da's Production of Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS is Sparse, Inventive, and Gorgeous
by Jill Schafer - Mar 11, 2015

I first saw the Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical fairy tale mash up INTO THE WOODS four years ago, and have seen it several times since then, including the recent star-studded movie. Every time I see it I like it more. I think Sondheim is like Shakespeare in that it has a very specific rhythm and cadence to it that takes a minute to get used to, but the more time you spend with it, the richer and deeper it becomes. Such has been my experience with INTO THE WOODS, so I was primed to love my favorite theater company Theater Latte Da's production of it. But it has exceeded my expectations, and even Sondheim newbies will be enthralled by this brilliant staging of a brilliantly written musical. Latte Da has pared down this big Broadway musical to something that feels intimate and innovative, using a small cast and orchestra, and inventive and thoughtful choices in every detail of the production. This, my friends, is Broadway re-imagined, or at least how I would like to see Broadway re-imagined. Simply put, it's sublime.

Olivia Batker Pritzker Releases HOUSE OF HARWOOD
by Christina Mancuso - Feb 6, 2015

Serealities is an online fiction site producing serial stories. It's like watching a favorite TV show. What's different? Readers vote on what happens in the web-series. Follow new episodes on Serealities each week. How It Works: Read each week's episode, Vote on what happens next week, and Repeat... each week. Readers can become a part of their favorite character's fate by following one of Serealities featured stories and casting their vote in this week's poll. Readers can vote to change the story. 'House of Harwood' was one of their Serealities, and the author has now written this sequel novella. On the fourth Thursday of November, without fail, families across the United States gather for Thanksgiving. Attendance is mandatory, whether or not you want to be there. Thanksgiving at the Harwood residence looks like a happy affair, all overseen by the sharp eyes of Granny Harwood. To an outsider, the wealthy Harwood family is a tight-knit group with few disputes and a strong commitment to family. Nothing could spoil this special time. Nothing, that is, except for Uncle Victor dropping dead at the dinner table. When it becomes clear that Victor has been poisoned, old wounds and grudges threaten to tear the Harwoods apart. So who killed Uncle Victor? Was it John James, who has never thought much of his sister Victoria's husband? Could it be Victoria, who suspects her husband once had an affair with her brother's long-dead wife? Or perhaps Granny, who would do anything to protect the Harwood family legacy? A satiric examination of family dynamics, House of Harwood strips away one family's carefully constructed image, revealing the deception, anger, and resentment bubbling just beneath the veneer of normalcy. 'House of Harwood' is available in both print and ebook formats. Book Details: 'House of Harwood' By Olivia Batker Pritzker Publisher: Serealities Press Published: December 2014 ISBN: 978-0692268155 ASIN: B00RZYS4K2 Pages: 74 Genre: Mystery About The Author: When she's not traveling the world, Olivia Batker Pritzker lives and writes in Boston, Massachusetts.
