Arden Theatre Company Presents August: Osage County, Closes 10/30

Arden Theatre Company kicked off its 2011/12 main stage season with the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning August: Osage County by Tracy Letts. Directed by the Arden's Producing Artistic Director Terrence J. Nolen, this epic play will close on the Arden's intimate F. Otto Haas stage October 30, 2011.

The Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia's 2011 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre took place on Wednesday, October 3, 2011! The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 66 voters who each saw 8 of the 147 shows nominated this year. Four additional awards-Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service Award, the Ted and Stevie Wolf Award for New Approaches to Collaborations, Brown Martin Philadelphia Award and the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist-will also be distributed at the ceremony.

The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 66 voters who each saw 8 of the 147 shows nominated this year. The 2010 Barrymore nominees have been announced! Created in 1994, The Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre are the Greater Philadelphia region's only comprehensive theatre awards program, recognizing artists for excellence and innovation while serving to increase awareness of the richness of the local theatre community. The Barrymore Awards are a nationally recognized symbol of excellence for theatre in this region, raising the bar for the work produced by local theatres and individual artists, and generating significant coverage in all the local newspapers and in national trade publications.Each year, over 120 shows produced by the region's professional theatres are reviewed by the Barrymore Voters. At the annual awards presentation each Fall, the Barrymore Awards are presented to honor the community's collective achievement.
