ICE Performs The Music Of Anna Thorvaldsdottir At National Sawdust Led By Steven Schick

On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 4:00pm, the pioneering International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) presents a program of works by composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir highlighting her unorthodox use of the piano. ICE pianist Cory Smythe, a champion and commissioner of Anna's solo music, is in the center of National Sawdust's stage, circled by the audience, with the audience encircled by ICE musicians, immersed in the music. Conductor Steven Schick, a longtime ICE collaborator, leads the ensemble. This performance is part of ICE's year long participation as a National Sawdust 2017-18 Artists-in-Residence. This project is supported by Nokia Bell Labs Experiments in Art and Technology program.

On Site Opera to present Menotti's AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

On Site Opera (OSO) will present Gian Carlo Menotti's holiday opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen December 6-8, 2018. In partnership with Breaking Ground, New York City's largest provider of permanent supportive housing for the homeless, performances will feature a chorus made up of community members who have experienced homelessness. Tickets will be free, part of OSO's “Opera Free For All” initiative.

Opera Memphis Announces Trio Of Honors

After finishing another exciting Midtown Opera Festival, Opera Memphis is celebrating success on both the national and international stage. The company's innovative programming and community engagement efforts earned General Director Ned Canty a coveted seat as North American delegate to the first World Opera Forum, OPERA America announced that it will fund expansion of the McCleave Project, and the NEA has awarded Opera Memphis its highest level of support, an Art Works grant.

California Symphony Receives League Of American Orchestras Grant For New Adult Education Classes

Highlighting the groundswell of innovation occurring at smaller-budget orchestras and youth orchestras across the country, the California Symphony is just one of seventeen orchestras that have received $30,000 American Orchestras' Futures Fund grants from the League of American Orchestras, made possible with the generous support of the Ann & Gordon Getty Foundation.

League Awards Smaller-Budget Orchestras & Youth Orchestras Futures Fund Grants

Highlighting the groundswell of innovation occurring at smaller-budget orchestras and youth orchestras across the country, seventeen orchestras have received $30,000 American Orchestras' Futures Fund grants from the League of American Orchestras, made possible with the generous support of the Ann & Gordon Getty Foundation. An additional five orchestras were selected to receive seed grants of $6,000 each.

Montalvo Arts Center Presents the Premiere of A New Soundwork FOUR BRIDGES

Visitors to the 175 acre-grounds of Montalvo Arts Center will be able to enhance their experience of exploring the Center's lush forest trails with Four Bridges, a newly commissioned soundwork by acclaimed composer Howard Hersh. Using wireless and geolocation technology Hersh, a Lucas Artists Composer Fellow, has created a sonic journey celebrating the beauty, mystery, and magic of the forest, leading hikers through redwood canyons into oak-lined meadows.

Dallas Opera Presents the US Premiere of SUNKEN GARDEN
